I don't see why he would be though. He's been pretty clear that he wants to vie for a title if he's playing at this stage in his career.

If Joe guaranteed him a position in the front office upon his retirement, that could carry a lot more weight than chasing a title and playing 8 minutes a game.

Not sure why Chauncey wants to chase a ring at this point? He has one, and a finals MVP. Chasing a ring with Miami or whomever isn't going to supersede that accomplishment.

Honestly Joe D should sign billups based on the fact that it'll put more buts in the seats as well as create a short lived but none the less buzz. We have the same chance of success with either of the 3, might as well get some buzz and put a general back on this team. i wouldn't mind him or andre miller

Sound reasoning, but he's been quoted as saying as much.

I think Chauncey comes around and stops the ring chasing. Not saying he comes here, but he's going somewhere that he'll atleast get the playtime he wants. If a contender has a need, (GSW maybe?) he goes there. However, if something like that doesn't pan out, I think he comes here. I mean, how many people are going to remember Juwan Howard as a 2 time NBA champ?

You mean, besides Juwan Howard? Probably Chris Webber.

Chauncey can still hit the three but his "act like I got fouled game" is done in the in-between game. I don't know how he got away with that smart bs for like 10 years to be as overrated as he was, but yea he can shoot threes, and still has respect as a champion as Finals MVP. I think we need the leadership but his game in a relevant role is not something I want to see. I don't mind it as long as he spends a lot of time on the bench. Maybe be like Fisher is for OKC.

Has Billups ever been a ring chaser? Traded to Nuggets, traded to NY, picked up after amnesty by Clips. None of those are "ring chaser" moves.

He always wanted to win, that´s his nature. So what if he helps us to win more games, to develop BK? Chauncey was in the same situation Brandon is at the moment when he came to Detroit: scorer, combo guard, not really a PG. Coach Brown helped him becomming what he is. I think his presence could have the best impact possible to Knight.

Chauncey overrated? I don't think he ever was. As far as I remember he was the guy that had bust potential written in his forehead before he came to Detroit. Thats when his game matured under Larry Browns tutelage. Hes one of the most poised floor generals I've seen in a long time, up there with the Stocktons and Kidds. If we are gonna get him, hes not getting benched, because we will need his presence on the court. I personally won't mind him starting at the 2 playing at around 24mins. I can't wait seeing him again in a Pistons jersey and bully the smaller guards down the post and perform his ''act like I got fouled game'' because its a masterpiece to watch. Only Andre Miller is capable of doing that in todays game. They're veterans for gods sake, you expect them to do that lol

I'm guessing Billups is waiting around to see what moves we end up making. IF we have the look of a playoff team and IF we promise him a front office position, he'll come here. We'll probably have to make some moves quickly, because I don't think he'll wait around as other opportunities get filled up.

 that's hilarious. On topic, I would be surprised to see Billups come here, I'm not positive I'm in favor of it.
