Monta Ellis

At 6 mill a year for three years he isn't bad. 18 5 assists and he gets steals. He is a pure scorer. Good sixth man and can facilitate.

He's going to want the max or some hefty deal. Didn't he leave the Bucks for this reason?

If the market dries up, an he's a man without a deal, then it's something to consider. I might offer him a two year deal.

he turned down $11 mil per from the bucks. We'd have to at least match that.

^That's only true if there's another team willing to offer him that much or more.

There might be, but it certainly won't be the Bucks with Mayo now in the fold for them.

At the right price I think he'd actually be someone worth looking at. He was a horrible fit in Milwaukee and might fare better here.

I read an article of five analysts and the most they said monte would get was 3/18 mill. He would up our team in a major way. He would help the loss of Landry if it happens. To be a title team you need a lot and monte has so much to bring off the bench. Manu, vinnie Johnson he could be that for us.

He's not worth anything more than 7/per imo.

Didnt martell webster get 5 mill a year? and he's pretty worthless. Monta is getting 9/10 Mill minimum

On the other hand JR Smith only getting 6 mill a year is pretty crazy so he may get 7-8 mill

At 6/7 monta is a good pickup. Starting sg until kcp is ready. Then a sixth man.

Monta as a starting SG doesn't make sense for the same reason why we couldn't draft Burke - our back court would be too small.

If Ellis is looking at $6M-7M he might as well take the MLE and play on a true contender.

Don't want him.

He's a typical Dumars signee, however

I don't like him but if we could get him for 6 per, we have to sign him I think. He'd be great as an instant offence guy off the bench.

The options are shrinking for Ellis. I think he could be had at a reasonable rate.

Its not a sexy choice and it doesn't make us relevant on its own, but its better than blowing the bank on one of the guys we've been talking about.

If Ellis is the best we can do in this FA, then I want the 2014 pick back.

No, but seriously, if he can come at a reasonable service fee, then maybe I may not bemoan the fact that he's coming. If only he plays a 6th man role, which is what his natural position is.

I took one look at the free agent class and as soon as I had a decent handle on how many teams had cap space I knew we'd made a terrible decision giving up that pick.

That's unfortunately water under the bridge at this point. Just gotta do the best we can with what we have.

Monta Ellis is a beast. He just needs to be in an offense with shooting around him and big men who he can trust to get their own so he doesn't feel the need to force shots. Talent alone though if he gets signed for less than $9 mil/yr and we didn't get him we missed out. Dude has serious offensive talent. On defense he's undersized, but he's quick and with shot-blocking behind him & he won't get beat off the dribble because of a lack of foot speed.

Threat to stretch floor from 3
Can create is own off-the-dribble in end of shot-clock situations
Can create offense in the pick & roll w/good vision

We need this. We have shooters too, and Monta can run the point in extended minutes if necessary. I don't understand why people are sleeping on him as a high volume shooter, and overlooking the talent and what he brings. He just gives you options that no other player available really gives..... especially at that price. I prefer Monta over Iggy & Josh Smith.

If he can be had for the right price I'd take him. He is instant offense which this team unfortunately needs right now. When KCP can start he makes a good Combo guard off the bench but I believe he'd resent such a move, but for the right price could easily be moved in a year or 2. Sign him up for a 3 year deal if all the A list free agents are gone.
