Sadly it's not a joke. He's right. As of this moment the only players on our roster worth a damn to the Raptors are Dre and Moose. Knight is an iffy project. KCP would be redundant. So yeah if the Raptors are looking for more than just a salary dump for Gay it would cost us one of those two. It's not because Gay is worth Moose or Dre it's because the rest of our players are trash.

Ed Davis was a project too. Either way, I think if they don't want to get rid of his contract, they shouldn't. But nobody is going to offer much more.

It's not so much a question about how high the worth of Detroit's players is; it's a question of how low Rudy Gay's worth is. He is an anchor--at least until his last contract year.

Or maybe ball and chain is the better analogy.

Ed Davis was a project. But Tay wasn't. So Memphis got a slight downgrade at the 3 to cut their payroll and nabbed a prospect. Do you disagree that the roster outside of Moose, Dre, KCP and maybe Knight is complete trash? If the Raptors want actual NBA players for Rudy we only have TWO to offer and thats Moose and Dre. Why the **** are people still arguing about this trade? Jesus. The Raptors aren't looking to cut salary.

It's not as low as Stuckey and DNP-CV.

Rudy Gay is garbage. Keep him and be stuck in mediocre land. Real successful way to build a franchise. Just ask the Bucks.

Well we could always try to sign CV and Ben Gordon and try to build around them.

From the sounds of it Golden State might be willing to give us picks and or young talent for taking on salary that has just a 1 year commitment.... from the sounds of it that might be a better long term option.

Never said we did. But the decisions Dumars has made the last 5yrs have been no better. Team's a mess, not that ours isn't. lol

Our team is most certainly not a mess. We have a potentially dominant big man duo in Monroe/Drummond on rookie deals, other promising prospects such as Knight, Middleton, Mitchell and KCP, no bad contracts after CV is amnestied, and 20mil in capspace. I wouldn't call that a mess.

I wouldn't say we are a mess by any means. We could be much better if our GM could actually make deals how ever.

I'm not the GM I'm a fan that wants to see his team relevant again so I will complain until we are worth a damn. I'd like to see us make a run at Barnes and Chandler which I haven't seen anything that links us in trying to go down that path.

right

People who offer no ideas are always the loudest complainers, see politics & music

id love Barnes or Chandler but cant see anything we have that could get them.

So does this have any chance of happening? I would really like this move. Hes not just a scorer, but can block shots, pass the ball, and is a decent thief.

I really, REALLY want to watch the Pistons this year, and this move, if it actually happens, may get me to buy some tickets.

Young to. What 26? On this team, I really think he would flourish.

The deal as it's written up here has been shot down pretty hard by Toronto. Basic thinking is we'd have to at least attach Knight or a pick, but they would probably want Monroe or Drummond for Gay. So it's pretty dead in the water right now.

Its all speculation because the only people that know how that discussion went are Masai & Joe. Anyone saying otherwise is just speculating.

If we can speculate though if Masai is open to rebuilding his own way our offer is pretty good & I think an extra pick could get it done. That cap space around a Wiggins/Parker/Randle/Young could get them rebuilt fairly quickly ala Cleveland in 03. Thats how good these '14 kids are.

Or they can keep Gay which keeps them around 40 wins & hope they can attract more talent to play with him.
