I've seen the past three drafts hyped up as awesome and then saw opinions take a full 180 by the time the draft rolled around. There will be one or two coveted, all star type prospects in this draft, and only one or two teams will get them. Odds are, it won't be us even if we went full tank and started mike Dunlap. I was ecstatic when we signed al Jefferson and even called my mom. It is a little shocking to see charlottes biggest free agent signing get so much heat.

I just want to say that I'm happy our big signing this offseason was Al Jefferson instead of that mediocre J.J. Hickson that so many of you wanted for some reason.

Also, stop worrying about not being players in the 2014 draft. We will have both of Portland and Detroit picks lightly protected in 2015 or 2016.

I agree 100%. The only 2 players that have me drooling are Wiggins and Randle. The team that gets one of them will get one of them based on pure luck. A plan based on pure luck is no plan at all.

Kemba has more star potential and marketing value than we realize. We have to build around this guy. It took a long time for Curry to rise to superstar status. We have to give him a winning team. Look at what happened with Curry when they surrounded him with the right supporting cast.

I agree 100%. I feel like the potential to use these picks to add to the rebuild has been completely overlooked.

The fans who say our rebuild is over are 100% wrong.

we really need to move those picks to get 1 player. the last thing this roster needs is 2 medicore 10-15 range prospects next year.

Do you think we could move those 2 picks plus Howard cap space to GS for Klay Thompson?

Biyombo + DET pick (I really feel will carry over and become top-1 protected because DET sucks) + POR pick (I feel it could reach 2016 unprotected if they trade LMA) + capsace for Bogut and Klay Thompson?

GSW trying to clear space to land Dwight. Talking with Jazz about Bogut. Will replace Al, making the same money, but producing far less. Only difference is for 1 yr as opposed to 2-3. Still, I'd much rather have Al. Wonder if GSW has to add picks, and what will they have to take back?

What are you talking about the last draft hyped awesome was the Lebron draft. These last few were tabed as having one or two stars. Next years draft may have three franchise players as wel as a few potential all stars. That's what makes this draft special.

That being said this team got blown out regularly last year, and that team is going to contend for a play off spot due to the addition of a player who has never had any playoff success. Not likely fellas. We are likely little better than Detroit or Sacramento.

The Oden-Durant draft was well-hyped. And the LeBron draft also shows the risk factor - one of the franchise guys in that one was Darko, while many thought Wade was a reach at 5.

Congrats on landing Big Al! Used correctly on the floor or not, he is no doubt going to be a net positive on your franchise when his time in Charlotte ends. He's that good of a dude.

Here's a must-check link, from the best Jazz blog out there, imo. It's got .gifs and a short recap of the writer's feelings on Al, filled with links that real fans would like to read. It'll give you a bunch of non-newspaper-style fluff that I'm sure you've torn through already. Enjoy Big Al and Big Al's Big Ass Bed.

The Davis/Mkg/Barnes draft was super hyped at the beggining of the season. Barnes was being called special, Davis was being hyped as the next Garnett, Drummond was supposed to be a beast, and dont forget how excited people were about Beal- he was the next Ray Allen....

I agree. Al Jefferson has been a wonderful human being and teammate in Utah. He's obviously a mixed bag as a player. His defense is bad but his offense is tremendous. I like the guy and I wish him nothing but the best in Charlotte. I hope he does really well for you guys and I'll be watching your team on League Pass this year.

Thanks for post Jazz fans. I'm glad he's a good locker room presence. Biz and Zeller could definitely use a mentor.

I doubt they'd give up Barnes or Thompson, but I wonder if we could still take on one of those guys for picks or something. Richard Jefferson, in particular, seems like he'd be a good vet mentor for MKG, and he's an expiring. I just don't know all the nuances with trades; I know we can at least somewhat exceed the cap in a trade, but I'm not sure by how much. I'm guessing we would have to re-sign Hendo first, or else we'd have to renounce his rights to free up the space (I think).

The GSW know they can push $30m of salary out the door without compensating teams. I suspect if they don't get Howard they might go for Smith in any event. Smith they may be able to land in a S&T of Jefferson and a future first.

al definitely seems to fit the high character player that cho loves. in fact now we know dont have a single player that i wouldnt consider as very high character, smart, humble and hard working. who is the most unlikeable player we have? i dare you to name one.
