WireTap- Dwight Howard to Houston

Post#1 » by princeofpalace » Fri Jul 5, 2013 10:06 pm

Well the Dwight Domino has fallen. He has choosen the Houston rockets. Im curious to see if Josh Smith signs with Houston now.

Houston is my hometown team so it will be good to see if they are contenders this season; Lin/Harden/Parsons/?/Dwight.

I think it will be us or Houston for Smith and I honestly believe we have a better chance now that D12 signed than had he not. I know a lot would disagree but it is what it is.

Doubt it.. He's injury prone and will be mad that Harden is the man and not him. He'll probably demand another trade by the trading deadline!!!

Will the Lakers have any FA money to spend now?

One of the teams that lost out on D12 will get Smith. I'm going to say like the Lakers.

Lakers are already way over the cap so they wont be FA players. They can't get Smith.

Id love to see Houston try and flip Omer Asik + T. Jones + R. White to Portland for Lamarcus Aldridge

I doubt that. If they are winning games all 3 will be fine. Smith and Howard would make it impossible to score in the paint...

Now they're saying Dwight hasn't made a decision between Houston and LA yet. Dear lord just make it stop....

I think LA would be a good choice for them and I could see Portland taking Asik. Good move for both parties IF LA wants to be moved that bad.

Portland probably isn't looking for a center anymore after they traded for Lopez.

Crap. I totally forgot about that. Well then I guess I see an impending Smith for Asik S&T.

So does the rumored sign & trade of Calderon for Lin now happen (based on reports that Howard wants to play with Calderon)? Lin certainly has his warts, but he's young, can score, and has upside. A three-guard rotation of Knight / Pope / Lin wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, and besides, are there really any definitively better options for us at PG in free agency? At least he's the right age to join our core. Or, if the Rockets are now angling for room to sign Josh Smith too, we could go bigger and deal Calderon for Lin and Asik; lands us both a third guard and a third big man, and we could still address SF by trade (seeing as the market is drying up fast).

Give them Calderon S&T for something if they get rid of Lin.

Rockets aren't contenders. OKC will walk all over them. They have nobody to guard Westbrook. They have nobody to check Durant. Perkins can lock down Dwight. They're a regular season team in the West.
