Would you have taken on the three expiring contracts of Andris Biedrins (11), Richard Jefferson (9), and Brandon Rush (4) for two unprotected first rounders in '14 and '17 (and three 2nd rounders that I can't find specifics on)? We would be 1.4 million over the salary cap and would probably have sent Kravtsov (1.5) their way to have the room.
Knight/Stuckey 8.5/Siva
Rush 4/Caldwell-Pope/English
Jefferson 9/Singler/Middleton
Monroe/Villanueva 8.58/Jerebko/Mitchell
Drummond/Biedrins 11
We'd have 41 million of expirings to do all sorts of stuff with at the trading deadline, which could ensure a tank-like end to the season as we traded away some of our expiring rotation players to open up minutes for KCP/Middleton/Mitchell etc.
Thoughts? Is this something Joe should look into? Why doesn't Joe facilitate other teams' pipe dreams? I'd be keeping a finger to the pulse of the league and calling up Houston, Golden State, Dallas, whatever the teams were that were targeting the biggest dominoes (Dwight, Smith, Iggy, Tyreke) and see where we could fit in, and I don't think Joe does much of this.

If Joe doesn't do anything between now and the trade deadline, then absolutely.

Heck....at this point, take them all for Jerebko.
Whatever crap expirings they want to offload onto us plus the 2014 GS 1st rounder for Jerebko.
Frees them back up to go after Monta Ellis if they want to.

Keep in mind with the way Golden State is looking their draft pick next year will probably be late in the first round. Who knows about the one in the 2017. I probably would have done it with the way free agency turned out up until that trade though. I'm not sure it would have guaranteed Detroit being able to keep their own pick (there are going to be so many really bad/tanking teams this season) but I don't think it would have made them much better.
