Man it would be insane if the Lakers considered bring back Bynum....Then resign Lamar Odom hahaha

Bynum (if ever healthy) would be fun to watch go up against Dwight in the playoffs.

Hack a dwight/smith. Howard shot 49% and smith shot 51% from the free throw line last season. They'd be the worst free throw shooting team in the league and those two would be huge liabilities late in games. Also, poor floor spacing with smith's inability to shoot, which Dwight does not do well with.

so it looks like our TPE is going to go to waste. very disappointing the magic did nothing to get a 2014 first

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

With Ryno their only fear would be him disappearing in the playoffs...and his defense. If they get him, they should also get a defensive PF backup (if they already don't have one).

I'm not a Dwight fan at all, but I am curious to see how they build this team and how well they can do.

I'm not huge on Ryno, but if there's any team he could thrive on it's the Rockets. Where we went wrong and failed was making Anderson our 2nd, sometimes 1st, option and not finding another star to pair with Dwight. Rockets have Harden and several complimentary players surrounding Dwight. I think Ryno could be huge as a 3rd/4th option for them, even in the playoffs. His defense will suck though.

Utah is going to suck next year... no milsap or jefferson, their top two scorers and rebounders. Looks like more competition for a top pick.

There we go, that's the kind of talk I like to hear. I'm going to give it at least another 5 days before I start expressing my opinions on the TPE, maybe something will come up.

It is more and more likely that we are gonna get fleeced out of 2 of the 3 1sts we got for Dwight.

Hopefully Henny can trade them for something useful before other teams get wise.

Can't we do like we did at the deadline (McRoberts/Warrick) and "extend" the TPE? Where you basically swap same-salaried players with another team under the cap, only instead of actually swapping the players, you're each technically using your TPE to obtain the other player, and trading your own player for a new TPE? That way you sort of replenish the TPE.

For instance, we could call up Charlotte again and swap Hedo Turkoglu for Ben Gordon. Both contracts end after this year, and in the process, the Magic can re-generate a $13.2M TPE. Similar kinds of trades might be possible with other teams under the cap: eg. ATL, UTA, CLE, MIL, DET, MIN, SAC, etc.

I do not think so...

About the Lakers pick... 2014-2015 season is the most important. They have to send their top 5 protected 1st rounder to Phoenix in 2015 draft, so Orlando can use their 2017 1st. I think they will be fine until 2014-2015 season. No need to worry about that pick, IMO...

But Philly's pick is in risk... If they do not make the play-offs for the next 2 seasons(which is highly probable), Orlando can only have their 2018 first(top 8 protected) or nothing... Too early to talk about 2018 draft, but thinking that Philly owes 2 first rounders to Miami and Magic, I do not think that their rebuild process will take too long.

Why in the world would we do that?

Their picks are going to be garbage and lin and asik have 2 years left on their deals, each ending in 15mil payouts (I know they only count 8 against the cap, but still).
It would wreck our cap space for 2014 and they are average to below average players.

There is no sane reason to ever trade for them.

Uhhhh, the sane reason possibly being that Asik is one of the best value centers in the league? And that we could definitely use him as an asset since affordable, top quality big men are rare.

Lin isn't such good value, but he would be the price you'd have to pay to get Asik for nothing. It may be possible to swing a deal that ships him to Detroit?

People talk about Lin like he's terrible, the biggest problem is he's turnover prone.

But he's also very young and has lots of other talent, ploys he's a very smart guy. Personally I think he's worth a flyer and give him a chance to improve. I think he's still got a shot to become an above average player.

they are both overpaid

The I guess mo Williams, devin Harris, Rodney stuckey, jeremy Lin, and goran dragic are all overpaid.

....it's market value for pg's in that tier (outside of Jeremy's ridiculously back loaded contract.)

That is what I have been trying to figure out. Aşık really does not work well for that team however I slice it.

You don't think Asik is a good fit for the Pelicans?

I actually like the fit.

They loss their starting C in Lopez who got shipped off to Portland...It allows Asik to come in & be a force in the middle with his defense & rebounding & allows Anthony Davis to stay at the 4 position, & you have Jeff Withey now coming off the bench when Asik needs a breather.

Holiday
Gordon
Evans
Davis
Asik

Would probably be the 5 getting the most burn....Not sure if they would start Holiday, Gordon, & Evans together though...I know I wouldnt.

You are right, I was not aware that they lost Lopez.

I would only count on one of those 1st rounders. I am almost positive the others will turn into 2nd rounders by the time we get them in like 5 years.

We now hands down won that trade. What a difference a year makes huh? Last year it was the worst deal ever and we were idiots blah blah blah.

So last year doesn't count? I still can't say we hands down win anything seeing as how we sucked last year, will suck again this year and the Nuggets had their best season ever. Maybe they won by finding a way to dump Harrington and Afflalo while picking up an expiring contract.

You realize we couldn't have taken on that much salary right? The Jazz had $30 mill in cap room, we only had a TPE that was worth half of that.

There's still a chance for the TPE to be used. Activity is about to spike now that Howard signed.
