For posters who like Gallo's game like myself, I'm really excited to see a 7-footer and more low-post game Italian in Bargs.
Are you fans of the team or the player?

There is a feeling around #Knicks camp that Bargnani hasn't played to his full potential yet & will boost Melo's spacing & playmaking opps.

let's hope they're right

I share that feeling...

Bargnani almost never plays in the low post.

Now that I'm back....
The Knicks didn't give up nothing, they gave up 3 picks, one of which is a 1st rounder. We don't know who will be where in 2016, so it's not a guaranteed pick in the 20s. You can't just give up picks and expect to win in the league. You need young guys on your team if you want to contend. Every contending team has at least two draft steals.

Melo is the PF of the future. Did the Knicks trade a 1st rounder to get some backup PF? Is a first rounder really necessarily for a backup PF, that may be backup to Amar'e too if he ever plays?

Also, watched some Bargs and remembered just why I hate him so much.

He is the epitome of soft. He camps the perimeter, scared to death of the paint. He sets half-assed picks. He fades on the picks. He has a soft weak mentality, where he doesn't respond to well to any criticism. He prefers to pull up for shots, than drive into the paint.

Lastly, he's a 7 fter with injury problems
. That's never a good combination in this league.

I guess you really hated him when he dropped 41 on The Knicks ( no that wasn't your imagination)

Your just like the haters in Toronto...they hate him and don't even know why. They talk of intangiables like he's weak mentally, doesn't care, stares at the sky, picks his nose.
He is not weak he has never backed down from anybody,he doesn't go through people he goes around them, weak people don't have good man to man d like he has.

He is on the perimiter because the coaches ask him to be there, because he's deadly from there.

His second injury was when he fell on his elbow trying to drive the paint something you said he doesn't do...something he is good at...take a look at his dunks,on youtube

He took criticism for his teams failure and never said anything for seven years and finally said something and was misquoted like that thing at the bottom of your posts.

He said in Italian that we...thats we, including himself..."we are practically the bottom of the leaque" which they were at that time.

Nice post!

Enough to know he's not a post player. I've heard enough from Raptors fans to back up that claim. He's a finesse player who has been described as soft and lazy. I have never, ever seen him described as a post player. Does he have the ability to play down there? Sure, if he grew some balls. But I don't think that's happening.

I don't know, you tell me first. Since apparently you have this fantasy that Bargnani is a post player. You're trying to show you know more basketball than me, which I highly doubt. Tell me, oh grand wizard, how many Raptors games you have watched and how Bargnani is a post beast. I'm really interested to hear your take and how different it is from 99% of Raptors fans and 99% of people who have seen this man play. Apparently shooting 40% from the field makes you a post player now.

Exaaactly... You HAVEN'T seen enough of Bargs- evident in your refusal to answer my question...

And lose all the "knowing more about basketball nonsense". Why do some of you posters take things to levels that are so unnecessary? Do you know me? do I know you? Do you have any real idea what I know?

With that said, I asked you a question. Show some integrity and answer the question... Then I'll gladly answer your question.

Are you 5 years old, dude? I already answered your dumb question. You're trying to prove a point and failing badly. Bargnani is not and never will be considered a post player. By me, by Raptor fans, or by any respectable NBA fan. Please stop this nonsense and if you actually have something constructive to add, add it, and stop playing kiddie games.

You're right bro. Shooting 40% from the field means you are primarily a post player, not an outside shooter.

I've seen quite enough of him to know what type of player he is. I've heard even more about him now to know what type of player he is. I didn't need you to tell me anything. But, please, overrate the man some more just because he's a New York Knick. Then return to calling him a soft scrub when he's off the team in a year or two.

MIP huh? Well Knicks have had history of taking on players who were good before they get here & turn into bums (Zach Randolph, marbury). Many it can work in reverse for Barnani

I ve to go 50% 50% on this between you and kneega. He can post but doesn't pretend to (softness).
Story:
With Bosh down low Andrea was used as second option and floating between elbow(mainly left elbow) - out to open space. When Bosh left Andrea became the primary option. He was requested to gain mass in the off season. His role was to get involved early in the 1st quarters in the post. The scheme was to demand a double team on him to open the 3 point shooters. I liked him down low. Not dominant but effective. The first year with D Casey Andrea was still used in this way, starting down low than floating around the top of the key and 3pt line to open the door for a Derozan drive. all of this was happening with a general as Calderon. When K Lowry arrived last year D Casey changed his tactics. If you go back and research some interviews (training camp) D Casey said: "we will look for more quick threes, shoot within 7 seconds, random plays are more difficult to predict by opposition" (what ?) .
He gave the key of the team to Lowry, benching Calderon. The first 2 games Lowry and Derozan had big time games (run and gun) and in a post interview Lowry (already King Of T Dot) said " oh,ya, we need to involve more Andrea". Well. it never happened, the team had not chemistry at all despite Lowry was the only new starter. A total mess. Andrea got injured, Lowry lost the starting postion, Calderon who is a good pg did a great job and the team came back from the infamous 4 19 start.

I have no idea how Andrea will be used by Woodson but I would like to see the natural slimmer player that can blow by and drive. In this case I agree with you he won't be able to match heavier bodies.

Andrea natural position in O is at the left elbow. It will be interesting to watch how Woodson will use Bargnani with Stat in O
