Were likely to be bad even if we add Jefferson. The basketball Gods need to shine on us just this once and let us pull a Washington and jump from 8 or where ever they were slated to top 3. One can only wish, right?

What about the Bulls? From 9th pick to winning the Derrick Rose lottery.

If the Raptors decide to trade away Gay and go for tank mode, they'll surely land the 1st pick. *cough*homecountryadvantage*cough*

I really hope this is the year the league decides it is not okay to try to fail and does something to fix the draft process.

The Magic will not be as bad this year as last. They will improve. Celtics will not drop to the very bottom either IMO. Pistons will be better than Charlotte. Suns and Bobcats about on the same level. I think the only team clearly in the bottom will be Philly, and the worst team is far from guaranteed that #1 spot as we all know.

As long as the Celtics have Rondo I think they're better. I'm not so sure the Jazz won't be better too. If I had to pick a top (bottom) 5, it'd be some order of Cats, Sixers, Suns, Magic, and Kings.

So we're gonna improve out of Wiggins/Parker/Randle/Gordon range this year, but be at the top for Okafor next?

Now you want to fix the process? What about the last two years?

i definitely agree the process needs to be tweaked.

i would like to see a weighted lottery based on past 3 years records. this would prevent teams who have been in the playoffs for many years from stacking contracts to all end at the same time or gutting a roster to go from 50 wins to 20 wins, then landing a superstar to get right back to 50. (current celtics). also prevents teams with a superstar who gets injured, then they tank and land another superstar (spurs when david robinson got hurt and then landed duncan).

i would also like to see something that would prevent teams from landing the #1 pick more than once over a period of time, maybe 5 years (current cavs). if a team that has had the #1 pick in the past 5 years lands the #1 pick, they would move to #2 . if two teams that have had #1 picks land the pick, they move down to #2 and #3 with the #3 pick going to the team that had the #1 pick more recently.

perhaps maybe some additional incentives for teams to make the playoffs in the 5-8 seed range as well, although i am not sure what those would be.

I would like to see some kind of reward for teams that make the playoffs 8+ straight years, doesn't happen a lot but seems unfair that they don't ever get access to at least mid lotto talent via the draft

They do need something to weight on the lottery process outside of the current seasons record. It's silly to reward a team like the cavs that just won.

Right now it looks like Charlotte will have 3 good 1st rounders.

Your own should be a top6 pick, Detroit with Josh Smith, 10-16 pick, and Portland with the new players, 13-18

Nice for you guys! you should be able to lock the backcourt and add a combo forward (plenty of them next year too).

they should either ditch the lottery and just go reverse record order or make the lottery so that the 15th worst team has a similar (but still lesser) chance than the worse team

Stop **** around with weights and odds and combinations and just do it exactly like the NFL does it.

It literally can not get better than that unless we land a top pick in a lucky bounce of the ping-pong balls.
