Pendy did really have some sparks of brilliance when given playing time. But he'd really just block Plumlee from getting any playing time again, so I'm not sure that's the best decision.

Unless a Green and/or Danny deal presents itself, i think this is our roster. I feel we would keep the 15th spot open and do 10 days in January and February, or do what we did with Young this past year in waiving before he's guaranteed and then bring back later after a few other tryouts.

remember we stayed big against the Knicks last year and made no effort to match down. I know Danny changes that and he'd share the minutes guarding Melo this year no matter whether he's at the 3 or the 4. I'm just not sure what you do when West sits down and the other team still has a big lineup on the floor. one option of course is to put Danny in anyway, stretch the floor, and dare the other team to go smaller, but some teams are just going to pound the ball into the post and demand that we guard them. say what you want about Tyler, he was strong enough to guard real power forwards. Pendi could hold his position too but he hasn't been resigned. I'll be watching the games in Orlando with interest to see if Miles or Solomon shows an ability to defend the four.
Going small last year pretty much wasn't in the playbook. When you only have one competent 1, 2 and 3 your options are pretty limited. I like Granger at the 4 with our second unit regardless who the other team plays because I expect Danny to win the matchup with just about any off the bench 4.
I'm really anxious to see Solomon Hill in Orlando because he is plan B if Granger can't go. Scary thought, the maturity and toughness is there just not sure about the talent to take on this responsibility this soon.

How come almost nobody else talks about Julian Mavunga? He is a fantastic athlete, had a good college career and he has taken very similar paths as Chris Copeland and Donald Sloan. He's much younger, so he didn't travel the basketball world as far as those guys, yet, but to me it seems like he has potential of stealing a roster spot. I believe Pacers are at 14 roster players, leaving one spot open.
He played against men last season in a pretty competitive league (Italy) and while his stats don't seem the greatest, they were not bad considering he had to adjust to a new team, language, culture, style of play, ect.
Since June, he's been working out like a beast with Miles Plumlee, and shooting hoops for an hour and a half five days a week. Seems to be his determination is sky high.

And if we're going outside the organization, how about Ivan Johnson? All hustle player, impressed me during the Hawks series.

For a guy like Mavunga I'm not sure being the 15th guy on the Pacers is a better career move than continuing to work it in Europe. We are down to a Ben Hansbrough/Miles Plumlee type role now. But that's what Pendi did a couple years ago and he got some run this past year and now has another contract. You nevhat know what circumstances will render the opportunity of a lifetime.
