Re: BREAKING **** NEWS: Deal #done Knicks acquire Bargnani
For the Raptors fans 4 years ago Bosh was a sort of soft girl playing basketball. Calderon was the worst NBA PG defender. Jarret Jack was a catastrophic PG. Belinelli was not an NBA player. Two years ago, for the Raptors fans, Andrea deserved the all star game, now he is a cancer for the team. Do you think that Calderon, Bosh, Jack, Belinelli and Andrea do not deserve to play in the NBA at a very high level? Jack, Andrea, Marco Belinelli, Bosh, Calderon have different values but if you could have all them in the same team they'd be for sure a playoffs team!

Re: BREAKING **** NEWS: Deal #done Knicks acquire Bargnani
weve probly spent a billion more dollars in payroll since TOR became a Franchise and won a few more playoff games...this is hardly a Celtics vs Lakers argument. not sure why anybody would pretend to be high and mighty in this scenario.
all this over Bargs ?
all this over Bargs ?
There's something about an underdog that really inspires the unexceptional.

Andrea can speak Italian, a good english and a sufficient spanish. Kobe can speak english, a good italian and a near to sufficient spanish. Can you speak those languages? I speak italian, english, spanish and I can undestand french, portuguese and greek, but I'm not an NBA player!
I speak English, Spanish, and a little Portuguese. I can actually understand Italian quite a bit, but don't speak it. I used to speak French in high school, but I forgot. I don't know if Al Hortford speaks Italian, but I am sure he can understand it since his first language is Spanish.

If you know what basketball is why you do not understand that a player plays where his coach asks to play?
Did you ever play at any level basketball? Andrea played at top level when he ws asked to play in his PF role (althogh without having a real center in the roster).
He played with Bosh, and Jonas. Both guys showed to be proven solid rebounders when given the opportunity.
Jonas is a C, and Bargs played the 4 with him. That's not playing out of position. He still failed to rebound, so I dont know what you're trying to say.
I love Jonas but he is a rookie never playing at high level in his career, his stats in his first NBA season are: 9PPG and 6 RPG. Good stats but not so impressive. Bosh in your mind is a center? Andrea is not a center. Andrea played 6 years in the NBA without a real center in the roster and a single season (with double injuries to his elbow) with a rookie one. What are you speaking about?
Jonas's play improved as the year went on, yet Bargs rebounding didn't.
Anyway, I'm confused to what you're trying to prove. If you're trying to say Bargs rebounding is due to him never playing with a true C, I'm sorry but that's wrong.

Not liking this trade. I don't think Bargs really addressed a need. He is not really a stretch 4 because his shooting is wildly inconsistent and he doesn't give you the inside presence you expect from a 4.
He is pretty much another JR. A fake 2nd option who creates at a B- level and is awful pretty much everywhere else. He's not a good enough shooter to be a good compliment to our ball-dominant players.
I know he's a "scorer," but our offense could have improved with more consistent outside shooting and/or oiffensive rebounding. Bargs does neither. He is just another guy that will be asked to fill a role- 2nd option- that he is under-qualified for.
We had more pressing needs for a 2-way forward and a back-up C, and now it looks like we'll be lucky to get either. I think a creative GM could have addressed one of those needs by shopping the Camby/future 1st package. I think we could have gotten Big Baby + Al Harrington for the same package, or maybe gotten Robin Lopez... could see Sac preferring Camby + picks to the TPE they got from Portland. Whether dumping Novak will pay off remains to be seen.
We needed reliable depth and instead we doubled down on the risk we're already taking with Amare. If both he and Bargs pan out, it's going to be tough to utilize both.

Bargs may not be worth what the Knicks gave up. Still he can draw Hibbert out and hit that mid range jumper or pass to a cutting teammate. That's what Grunnie was thinking. Now, can he endure the mental toughness? Dunno.

It's not that hard to bring Hibbert out of the paint if you're willing to give up so much on defense/rebounding.

People need to stop putting Bargnani and Hibbert in the same sentence. Bargnani is here to play power forward alongside Melo or a defensive minded small forward. Bargnani/Amare/Leslie? will likely be our power forward unit with Chandler/FA playing center

The players left cause of the **** management, no player that left, left because they hated the city, and most Raps fans don't care about the star players leaving, cuz we never went anywhere with them. Besides other than Bosh who's went on to do better and bigger things?
Carter - Put up great numbers in Jersey, that's it.
TMac - Put up great numbers in Hou and Orl, that's it.
Damon -
Bosh - Sacrificed stats and role, for ring.
Tmac left cuz he was jealous of Carter, Carter could've left but resigned for 6 years, boy he must of hated Toronto.
You're a Knicks fan speak on what you know. The Knicks.
Besides in the last 12 years we've made the same progress, and that's getting to the second round, so it's not like we're not on the same boat

Re: BREAKING **** NEWS: Deal #done Knicks acquire Bargnani
Confused, why would Hibbert guard Bargani when he can guard Tyson Chandler who averages like 5 points a game in the playoffs so he can leave him open and help defend?

My guess would be if Bargs is playing center and melo the 4. Terrible defense though.

Stuck on silliness?
"People" need to stop being silly and RE-watch that Game 4 vs the Pacers when Woody resorted to a conventional line up and put Melo back at SF. Hibbert was contained but Paul George torched the Knicks for 18 pts, 14 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 blocks.
Did "people" forget that?
There's no way in Dolan's butthole that Bargs plays PF or the advantage Knicks/Melo currently have is taken away. With Amar'e mobility issues, he's a better fit alongside him because STAT can collapse the D and kick out. Bargs is many things but he is allergic to contact.

Not sure why people are against this trade... we gave up
Camby - Someone who did nothing but sit on the bench and didnt even play in the playoffs
Novak - Someone who is useless if he's not making his shots
& a couple draft picks ??
Correct me if im wrong here but both Amare and Tyson will have expiring contracts by 2014/2015 season, cant we just move one of those expiring and like receive some future picks in return + some pieces in return

People need to watch games and know WHY things don't work. The reason we were getting torched with a "conventional" line up is because the defense packed the paint and basically said "hey Kenyon, please take as many 18 footers as you like"
West barely guarded Melo. Melo at the 3/4 is rendered moot by the defense, regardless, playing their best match up on him (Bass, George, etc). The problem is our other guys were not good enough to take advantage of West/Pierce. Bargnani can play defense on West about as well as Melo or any other forwards we have (since we have none on the roster presently).
If we are playing Dre at center, we are going to suffer on the boards and it won't matter how well we create a hard shot, the teams will get 4 chances to take a 25% shot. The problem vs the Pacers was inefficient offense, poor double teams, and no rebounds. Bargnani is a mobile 7 foot guy, meaning he can bother shots from smaller power forwards. Also, because he is a scorer, he forces someone to actually guard him. He won't be getting those Shumpert looks all game.

Even with that massive edit of yours that was the game where George Hill went bezerk and the Knicks gave up 54 rebounds.
The Pacers front court did work on the boards due to their absurd amount of missed shots.
None played well offensively, unless 11-36 combined is the new standard of excellence.

Expiring contracts still need draft picks packaged with them, especially Stat.
Maybe a 3 team trade I guess.
