Boston / Detroit Deal: Reuniting Rondo with Smith

Post#1 » by sfballa13 » Sat Jul 6, 2013 9:13 pm

Posted this in the trade forum:

Monroe, Knight, Stuckey, Charlie V, Jerebko
for
Rondo, Green, Bass, Lee

Pistons sign Chauncey and a veteran C

Rondo / Billups
KCP / Lee
Green / Singler
Smith / Bass
Drummond / Vet C

Boston saves 25M AND gets Monroe and Knight... we get our PG/SF of the future to pair with Smith/Drummond/KCP

Id rater go after Teague than trade for Rondo. Rondo is not the type of guy we need in the lockeroom and I think pairing up 2 guys with questionable attitudes in Rondo/Smith is a bad idea.

Goodwill leaving hints it could actually happen.

Vincent Goodwill ‏@vgoodwill 16m
If I remember correctly, Josh Smith and Rajon Rondo are close. Rondo wanted the C's to deal for him...

Last night after Calderon signed, Goodwill said Pistons had "bigger fish to fry". Next morning they sign Smith.

Perhaps Goodwill knows what he's talking about after all and this Rondo hint could come true as well

Knowing Ainge he is going to want Monroe, if we have to give up Monroe and take on Lee and Bass' bad contracts without getting back Green then this offseason would be a failure

However, if we grab Green, all our positions of need are filled and we have to focus on making the playoffs instead of worrying about if our pick will go to Charlotte or not

I think all of us realized Dumars had bigger fish to fry. Signing a starting wing has always been the main focus. Calderon was secondary.

yeah, but it looked bleak last night with Houston getting Dwight and all reports had them getting Smith too. There was no talk anywhere about Smith to Detroit anymore, but Goodwill seemed to know we were still getting him. Maybe he knows more than we give him credit for, but just isn't allowed to give up the info directly.

lol @ Goodwill knowing anything. If we must go after a PG, I'd rather it be Teague. Atleast he can shoot and we don't have to give up Monroe for him. I still think Knight is going to work though.

I'd consider that trade.

Tempting trade. I'd probably do it tbh.

if you can sign teague and don't trade for Rondo, what's the best wing that Monroe could net?

I think I would be happy with this trade, it would extremely painful to let Monroe go before he reaches his prime, I think I could live with it if we got Rondo AND GREEN. Don't think I would be interested if it's just Rondo.

I would be happy if we just signed Teague without giving up anything though as well.

Either way to bring a pg

You guys do realize Rondo's shooting is farther below average for a PG compared to Josh Smith's compared to 3s?

Coming from a Celtics fan...

We had a thread about dealing Rondo to the Pistons and the majority of posters agree that if we aren't getting Drummond in return than there's no deal.

And I'm sure most of you would not want the Pistons to deal Drummond.

Yeah, I personally don't see a trade happening between our two teams, and I'm perfectly fine with that, I'm sure you are too :)

You would have to trade Ainge + Rondo for that to happen. JK.

But it's not happening, ever. If it does, I'll literally give up.
