Nuggets considering Monta Ellis

It's disappointing to me that they would even consider this.

Ellis wants the ball in his hands, he's an ego issue, and it would give us a tiny backcourt.

No thanks.

We only have the MLE to use, and I doubt we will be trading one of our bigger contracts to sign him big.

I would definitely take Monta on the MLE, it's good bargain.

I have heard 3 different radio guys on the radio in Denver say that the Nuggets are not trying to get Ellis, it all comes from a Realgm article, with a couple of inaccuracies that makes me think the original source is just making things up.

Right because the Nuggets need an undersized combo guard that cannot shoot from outside and likes to have the ball in his hands, works well for a team that already has a couple of starters that like the ball in their hands. Also Ellis and Lawson on defense is a nightmare, McGee would average 10 blocks a game and foul out within 18 mpg due to all the guards walking down the lane.

Yeah, but aside from that, he'd be perfect!

ugh.

if we traded dre and ellis was happy going for the 6th man of the year trophy in 28mpg....i might be able to stomach it.

otherwise...not so much.

high volume, low efficiency, poor defense. not a good combo. especially next to a small pg.

would be nice to have another guy that can get in the paint and create his own shot. but not with the tradeoffs of his deficiencies....and his character issues.

reeks of desperation signing after losing iguodala. not necessary. would rather trade dre, go younger, and see what fournier/hamilton have.

Depends, Corona. If he could be had for the right price, with your suggestion above re 6th man, then I'd be on board.

Ellis is not a bad kid. He works hard. I remember him from my time with GS. I would be fine with him on this team. You have to remember it's a defensive system - fast guards on the wings, bigs who can guard the paint - Like Javale and Faried/Arthur. What Arthur brings is what we lacked - a good outside shooter, another shot blocking presence. Monta would bring us scoring, which we need. And the one thing Monta can do is score. I bet BShaw could mold him.
