It is less than what he would have gotten if he would have signed with us at the start of last offseason.

Smith was a good player at times, but towards the end of his time here he turned into a prima donna who wanted to be the man who took over games, whether he could or not.

Not unless we can interest them in a pick and a TPE.

I went ahead and deleted yours to keep the board somewhat cleaner.

I heard rumors (no link - just board talk) that Smith wouldn't reduce his asking price in a SNT. If true, this is probably why: he had an offer in his hip pocket.

Still, he goes from 3rd star on a potential championship team to . . .

Glad he's gone. Even if we get nothing in return, the house has pretty much been cleaned.

Heard teague is upset. He may be next to go

If Teague is gone, then it won't be because he's mad because his RFA market is dry. H3ll, I'd prefer he be mad enough to dedicate the offseason to proving everyone wrong...

STILL makes me sad, as I suspect we could have dangled him in trade talks for Detroits 1st rounder last year. Dumas has wanted Smith for years.

Poor foresight not trading Smoove when his stock was at its highest in 2012.

Now he walks away for nothing...

Good luck, Josh. The Smoove era of Hawks Basketball is FINALLY over.

Zach Klein ✔ @ZachKleinWSB

NBA league source tells me #Hawks never even made an offer to Josh Smith. He gets 14-mil a yr in Det. Shows u how much they wanted him out

Nope. As of right now, his cap space has given us Paul Millsap - and we have more of it to go. Consider the PHI offer: Hawes and Turner. Well, Millsap's better than the 2 of them together. We're already to the good.

Good for Josh... Best of luck to him

Josh deserves to go to a team on the up swing, because he definatly helps teams get win and he will show great leadership to Drummond and Monroe. Sad to see Josh go, but he is not right for the Hawks any more since the Hawks are playing for Wiggins, Randle, or Parker

Eh. We could have afforded Milsap with the savings from dumping JJ and Marvin.

We couldn't even get a draft pick for our "best player"?

And let's face it, other than MIA, titles aren't won in NBA free agency. Trades and drafting. Acquiring assets and turning them into better ones.

It was pretty clear since we make offer to Milsap, it was Josh or Teague renounced, and Teague having a little cap hold help more to get a good team since we can spend up to 6M under the cap before signing him or signing-&-trade him, while Josh only allowed to spend up to 16M under the cap.

Yeah, Josh can teach those guys what it takes to be a champion. The 6'9" Jason Kidd right there.

I think with Josh, the Pistons will be #5 (maybe #4) in the east, but they will be a treadmill team like the Hawks the last decade,....... but those passes and alley-oops that Josh are going to throw up to Drummond are going to be awsome! :D

Yeah, Drummond, Monroe and Josh could be one hell of a frontline.

He's so versatile, he'll be the best and worst player on their team.

Huh? Smith is going to show great leadership? If by leadership you mean complaining because you aren't getting calls and shooting 3's when you should pass out, then yes he will provide leadership.

I think it is fairly obvious that we are NOT tanking.
