GSW-Det trade

Post#1 » by lakerhater » Sat Jul 6, 2013 8:33 pm

Just throwing this out there because I'm bored. Simple trade.

Barnes for Monroe

Detroit just inked Josh Smith to a deal and he's generally regarded as being a better PF then SF due to his erratic perimeter game. Drummond is the Pistons best prospect in years and will soon be their clear cut starting center. Monroe is the odd man out.

GSW just inked Igoudala who fits in really well at SF. Harrison Barnes, W's fans favorite prospect in years, is most likely headed to the bench and the W's have a need for a backup PF/C that can take over as the starting center in the blink of an eye when Bogut gets sidelined by any number of ailments.

Monroe has a more proven track record then Barnes but Barnes might have the higher ceiling and would help balance the Pistons starting lineup (no more Singler as starting SF) and give them probably the most athletic front line in the league.

The Warriors end up with Monroe or Lee as their 6th man which addresses their most pressing need which is a competent big man off the bench.

Not enough returning for Monroe. Barnes had a couple nice games in the San Antonio series, but hasn't done anything closely resembling the consistency that Moose has.

I'd want Barnes, and a couple unprotected first round picks. Hope Curry's ankle snaps and Detroit get a lottery pick as a result.

Barnes and Thompson probably would never fly.

I love Barnes but I still say no. I don't think GSW does it either though.

Wait you want to trade a near All Star big man 5 years away from his prime for another SF?

We already have our starting SF in Josh Smith & paid him heavily.

Whats the catch?

In his scenario, Smith moves back to the 4, Barnes is the starting 3.

My fault, didnt even notice Monroe going out for him.

Might as well at this point in all honesty. This isnt a build around Monroe/Drummond team anymore.

Good luck with Smith at SF. I see him as a PF that should only play limited SF minutes.

Most people see him as that, unfortunately Joe Dumars didnt & some of this fan base is so desperate for anything to grasp on to that they see this as a great signing.

One bright spot is there will be some cool dunks next year.

This.

Remember when DrumRoe got consistent minutes and started together during the last few games? It was beautiful to see and nobody could get rebounds inside. I...wanted to see more of that, more of the twin towers dominating and I think we're going to end up trading Monroe because of this signing.

Oh well. Dumars/Gores is in a win-now mode, which means we'll probably be a slightly better Bucks with beating out the Knicks if we do one more signing correctly.

Atlanta's best lineup last year was...

Teague-Korver-Smith-Horford-Zaza

According to 82 games that was their most efficient offensive lineup as well as best rebounding.

Also, Smith holds opposing SF's to a PER of 9 when defending that position which is insanely good. Smith defends SF better than he does PF.

All we needed was a little patience man, Drummond has top 5 player in the NBA potential & got better by the day & Monroe is perfect next to him & near All Star level himself.

We should have surrounded them w/ shooters until we could acquire that stud 1, 2 or 3 that can both shoot & create. It would have been perfect.

80% of the offense should run through Monroe/Drum but that will be nearly impossible now with Smith demanding touches & being useless outside of 4 feet & in.

GSW says no.

Barnes is a big time prospect.

If Monroe is in your team you cant win, maybe PO and 1st rounds exit every year, but that's all.

Horford is a way better shooter than Monroe

We would need more than just Barnes back.

I think Joe D. is just starting. I'd look for another move or two. He's not done yet. I don't think.

I think Joe had a few options open to him they just all hung on if we got Smith, which now that we have him you will see at least one to two more moves or maybe a blockbuster trade!

GSW needs front court depth to add to Bogut/Lee and they have no need for Stuckey now that Iggy is a W. This deal is a no from GSW. Right now the W's have one center going into the season and that's not enough.

Return to Detroit Pistons
