Trade Question What if
Wizards fan here - just wanted to see if Kings fans would be interested in an Trevor Ariza for Patrick Patterson trade now that you have Landry?
From a Wizards perspective we could use a decent backup up PF especially if they can stretch the floor a bit and Patterson qualifies for that. Its also an added plus he's a former teammate of John Wall's.
For the Kings it looks like you guys could definitely use some help at SF and Ariza is an above average defender who can hit the three and his contract only has one year left.
Not sure if our GM would offer something like this but Ariza appears to be the odd man out at SF in Washington given that we just drafted Porter and signed Webster to a 4 year deal. Ariza's a quality role player but we'd be better off with depth at PF than another SF.
Thanks for any feedback.

I think I can speak for most people here and say that we prefer Patterson next to Cousins because he can space the floor.
I'd consider a Thompson/Ariza trade tho. I'm not sure if Ariza is that but better than Salmons but he is an expiring.

He would have to be looked at closely during a physical, he was been hurt awhile right?
and we would move JT for sure even if Ariza is a physical gamble.

Understood on the floor spacing. That's why Patterson is more attractive to us as well. Out of curiosity does Sacramento consider Patterson to be a long-term core piece?
I'd probably go for Thompson for Ariza as well but would at least want to see what else is our there. We don't need a star in return for Ariza just a reasonably consistent big off the bench and JT would probably work.

Ariza had some nagging injuries last year and had an ankle sprain in December which caused him to miss some time but nothing serious with us.

Only person I would consider safe on this roster are DMC and McLemore.

Re: Trade Question What if
Just took a look at JT's contract and realized that we wouldn't be willing to take it on - too many years left. As a player he'd be a decent fit but I don't think we want to take anyone back with more than one year left unless they are on a rookie deal. Worst case scenario we just keep Ariza and trade him at the deadline or let him go next summer.
Best of luck next year.
Best of luck next year.

I'm not sure, I used to really like Ariza's game, but he seems to have fallen off past few years. At least it appears so.
Sometimes you just have to look yourself in the mirror and say....Tyreke Evans.
That just happened.

If they get rid of Patterson they are really dumb. He's the best fit and has more potential than anything not named Cousins in this teams frontcourt right now.

Yep.
Maybe, other than Hayes, Patterson is the best fit next to Cousins.
A Landry/JT pairing with Cousins is Westphal all over again.

I do not think the Kings will want to move PPAT. Next out the door it JT and Hayes, with a mixture of jimmer or thorton.

i think PPAT will be on the way out. don't think the penny pinching owners will be willing to fork out cash for ppat. i'm still scratching my head about the landry signing. thats alot of jack for a backup undersized pf

"Penny pinching owners"?
I hope you realize there is a difference between opening up cap space to make moves AND being cheap aka penny pinchers.

He's obviously trolling spewing out trash-like post. I've seen better articulated writings in bathroom stalls.

Re: Trade Question What if
I think you guys are stuck with Thompson and Thornton.
Ariza has found his mojo again. In NOLA and Houston he was expected to do too much. And even at times here before Wałl came back.
You put him in a position where he only has to play d, grab boards and hit corner 3s and his value skyrockets. His whole career was hamstrung by being asked to create too much and proclaimed a rising star in Houston.
Remember, LA had a hard time deciding if they should turn him into Artest or not. A year after Artest left SAC. Ariza was viewed as way more of a star type than he was. He's more Tayshaun Prince than anything.
IMO this deal would be good for the Kings and better for Dc. What do you need more than a 3+D wing? Ariza hit over 40% of his 3s after Wałl returned. Pg like Vasquez would also do wonders. He's a California kid, and I think he might be the best wing you could get. You don't need more scoring. You need a stopper. Ariza stops guys. He swallowed up Paul George and Rudy Gay, Parsons, a grip of other guys en route to their worst games of last year
Cousins floats on the perimeter too much for a stretch 4 to be the ideal. A guy like David west would be perfect. Defense, 20 foot jumpers and good passing.
But in DC, Patterson would be coming into a perfect scenario. With his college PG, getting as many backup 4 minutes as he can handle, probably starting 20 games or more after Néne gets hurt.
I'd give DC a b+ for not getting more for Ariza's expiring. I'd give SAC an A for getting the vet glue guy they need to make steals and get them out on the break.
