I'd rather do a Knight/Monroe for Gay/Lowry trade tbh. Barnes is nice & all, but at this moment, Monroe > Barnes.

Woah, ^€¢π¢ what? Barnes isn't even a good player now, let alone at Monroe's level. He doesn't create for himself, he's an awful passer, has some of the lowest steal/block rates in the league. He had a PER of 11 last year, which would put him as the worst staying sf in the league, and probably one of the worst wings who played more than 15 minutes or so per night.

I'm guessing the OP is high on him because he had some 20+pt games in the playoffs. Note that the two games he dropped 20+ against the spurs, it took him 18 and 26 shots to do it. His playoff PER was still below league average (13.4) even though he scored and rebounded more. He'll get better at some stuff, but he didn't overcome the question marks that he slipped on draft night (he's got good size and a nice looking stroke, but what else can he do in the NBA?). He's a catch and shoot player right now, not much else, and he wasn't especially good at that last year. I don't want to imply that he sucks or doesn't have value, but I think people are still buying his hs hype if they're thinking he's likely to end upa perennial all star.

According to 82 games that was their most efficient offensive lineup as well as best rebounding.

Also, Smith holds opposing SF's to a PER of 9 when defending that position which is insanely good. Smith defends SF better than he does PF.

Horford is a way better shooter than Monroe

If Monroe had a reliable mid range jumper I think we'd find this move a lot less controversial.

Does anyone still think Monroe can develop that though?

To be honest, I'm slowly becoming open to the notion of trading Monroe. Him with Drummond was something of a question mark before this move and the move as it stands puts it even more in doubt.

Glad to see you come around to the dark side that is making Monroe expendable.
With that said I don't see Monroe being a great PF he's to slow to stay with them and they will be all over him on D since he really only has a low post game.

Monroe is very quick and nibble. Stop with this BS about him being slow. He can't jump but he sure can move well. I can't believe people still doubt that a traditional big man rotation won't work. It's worked only for forever. Just stop already.

Monroe is already a borderline All Star at 22, his back to the basket game is a good as any other big in the NBA & he is an above average passer, he fits perfectly with Drummond.

Monroe is just as untouchable as Drummond to me.

I don't think GSW is in position to match Greg's near max contract next season. So, they probably will say no.
