How good are we?
The rest of the west seems to be improving, while we are regressing. Sure we have Durant and Westbrook, but no other all star caliber players. To top it all off our bench is fairly weak... I'm worried about the state of this franchise.

The average # of All-Stars on a team that win the championship=2
-Rockets are a 2nd round exit next year, their lack of leadership and bad free throw shooting overall will get exposed.
-The Spurs will still be a good regular season team w/ their core but will probably lose in the 2nd round next year. They had their chance this year w/ OKC out of the way while not being 1st in the West and still didn't succeed.
-That leaves the Clippers, who will probably be OKC's only true threat next year. Other than the Spurs, Rockets, and Clippers every other Western Conference team has no chance of beating OKC, period.
OKC is fine, they'll still finish 1st next year.

Golden State has a great lineup. I'd be worried about them. Rockets should show up to play next year. I suppose you're right, I just don't like the fact that we have some gaping holes that have yet to be addressed.Chris1 wrote:The average # of All-Stars on a team that win the championship=2

Nah, OKC would still have the advantage because they have 2 go to guys. If Durant and Westbrook play at a MVP level OKC will win, but it will probably be a tough series.
The Rockets simply don't look like a "mentally tough" playoff team to me. They'll get out of the 1st round based on talent but OKC will outsmart them in the 2nd round by constantly hacking Dwight and making him earn half of his points at the line.

Hopefully the Thunder management learned from the Spurs about letting the younger player to get on the job training with playing time ... so that we have the ability to improve for the playoffs...

People underestimate how good Westbrook and durant are. We will be among the top teams again this year.

There is a little uncertainty with how good OKC is, but I think this is a good thing. There are a number of good prospects that haven't played much and really only one rotation spot to fill. This team has the potential to be really good by the playoffs.

The team is fine. We may miss one extra 3 pointer a game, so we go from +9 to +6 Thats still a good team.

Yeah other teams are improving by signing FA, the Thunder are improving as their young core and rookies keep progressing and learning.

Re: How good are we?
I'd expect the 3rd seed next year, maybe even the 4th, but I'd also expect to be going into the playoffs playing a lot better than that. This year we looked like the same team most of the season and fairly inconsistent throughout, hopefully next year we'll be seeing a worse team at the beginning that's developing as the season wears on to the point that we're as good as anybody by round one.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

We lost James Harden and we didnt regress.
I don't think losing Kevin Martin will make us regress either.
Durant, Westbrook, and Ibaka are continuing to make strides. I expect Reggie to a big leap after an impressive postseason run, which should do wonders for his confidence.
Were still a 60 win team.
