The Lakers have only missed the playoffs 5 times. There's such a thing as pride and tradition. I don't see Kobe and Pau not playing with a huge chip on their shoulder next season.

yes and there's such a thing as pride getting in the way of making smart decisions.

no i want this organization to do the smart thing instead of sticking themselves in first round purgatory for the next 10 years because of the new CBA.

Amen..

And the Lakers pride is to WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP ,not just barely make the stupid playoffs and get blown out

I'd rather suck for a year and contend in the next, than be mediocre for 2 years in a row ...but that's just me I guess

@MettaWorldPeace: Asik on the Rockets with the new guy is huge. I believe Asik can be top 5 center presence in the league.

Potentially a big problem.

@MettaWorldPeace: Houston will be in the conference finals next year. Harden will probably be MVP.
Two of the top 5 centers will be on the same team. But!!!

@MettaWorldPeace: Lakers will have an amazing team next year. Chemistry will click. With , 24 and Gasol have 7. Rings between them and my one ring ...

@MettaWorldPeace: There is enough leadership to get it done!!!!!

@MettaWorldPeace: Lakers vs Houston conference finals.
Pre order your popcorn!!

Funny Metta says chemistry will click for us without Dwight

Helped us win a title, but now it is done.

Focus on the future.

My point is we sucked last year and it's why we lost out on Dwight. We also had more money to offer him. So it's not mere cap space or the ability to sign someone alone that's attracting players, especially top tier guys. You have to actually be a well-built contending-seeming team.

I'd prefer the Lakers to do what it takes to be enticing to 2014 FAs, so that we're a few key pieces away.

The kind of people that the FO wants aren't coming over to start from scratch....

Dwight is a corner-case... Don't use him to base any of your impressions of the franchise on.

His stated reasons for leaving aren't his real reasons. He left because he never wanted to be a Laker in the first place and used us to find the right situation. And he left because he couldn't stand playing with Kobe and everything that went with it.

There are still a lot of players out there that would love to play for the Lakers. Just wait...
Never have rice at Hanzo's house...
