You might aswell consider putting 5 centers at the same time. Biggest guard you'll find right now who has post game is Billups or you could always hire Magic Johnson back, like the good ol days.

Snakebites- nice original post to start the thread.

Unless we are getting an All Star, let's keep Monroe.

Now we try and get better shooters. Easier said than done, I know, but it's the logical next step. We might have the best interior D in the league at this point, now we need to try and address the spacing issue that's so often brought up around these parts. Need dead eye shooters. I'm not attached to any of our guards and am totally open to trades for better shooters. +1 on the Gary Neal suggestion.

I'd like to see what we have in Singler and Middleton and KCP before we go nuts adding marksmen off the bench, not saying we shouldn't look to upgrade our roster, but we might not be in such dire straights for shooters as everyone is making it sound

Surprised Randy Foye hasn't gotten some more buzz.

I would love to have him here as our backup SG.

Also, Billups and Sammy Dalembert would be cheap but quality additions.

How much is available 7 mill?

Corey Brewer (3yrs 15 mill)
Nick Young (2yrs 8.5/9mill)
Jeff Teague (not happening)
Gary Neal(3yrs 9Mill)

Brewer / Neal will bring scrap heart and talent, Nick Young brings offense, and Teague because it would be nice if ATL wouldn't match.

I think you can strike Brewer from that list. Nick Young isn't ideal, but he's a respectable shooter. Neal reminds me of a jumpshooting Will Bynum...that is, I can see him going into chucker mode too often.

I was interested in Brewer early in the FA process, but now that Smith is in the fold Brewer is exactly what we DON'T need on the wings.

Unfortunately I'm not seeing a perfect fit among the "value" guys. I think we'll probably have to settle for someone like Anthony Morrow.

Bring back Billups, Rip, and Ben and amnesty CV. Make Sheed an assistant coach.

Knight/Billups/Stuckey
KCP/Hamilton/English
Smith/Middleton/Singler/Jerebko
Monroe/Smith/Mitchell
Drummond/Monroe/Wallace/Kravstov

That looks like a deep team. Billups/Rip/Ben/Sheed can bring some much needed veteran leadership and could be great for teaching our young guys how to play. I like it.

Amnesty CV31 and dump the money into an offer sheet for Brandon Jennings. Call and touch base with Chauncey on a player to front office deal.

BJ Mullins is an UFA and only 24, he may be a good option as a stretch big.

I'm thrilled with the Smith signing, if we could add a young big like Wright or Mullins and bring Billups back I think that's the best outcome we could hope.

As much as none of us probably wants to admit this, CV is both a valuable expiring contract at the trade deadline, and a true stretch the floor PF. WIth Josh Smith on the team and able to play and guard SF's, CV will get PT until he's traded. A lineup of Smith, CV and Drummond would bring plenty of defense to cover for CV, and CV will create fantastic floor spacing for us.

So, CV will get minutes this season, and will quite possibly win a battle with Singler and Middleton and JJ for PT throughout the season. The good news is that this could keep his value quite high during the season, and could bring us back some nice assets in February.

Pharoah maybe admit you totally blew it and were totally wrong on your 27 other posts about how Dumars blew it (before the signing period even started), and how no "big name" free agent would come to Detroit. Josh Smith is pretty much the 2nd biggest name out there, behind Howard.

Hint: The offseason isn't over yet, maybe you should stop being wrong for a bit until your recent postings fade at least out of the top 10.

And who might you be? I have no recollection of you at all yet you feel the need to call me out on 28 posts I made? Did you count them? Please say you did. I would actually lol

Did you call anyone else out who posted a similar "no big name free agent will come here" comment? Or is it just me? If it's just me... ummm... I guess I'm just lucky?

In those 28 posts did you happen to read any that stated I would be "happy to be wrong"? Or are you merely fishing with this? Do you catch much bait with this dribble? I can't imagine you would, since in the year 2013 a lot of people have been trolled with better lures than "You were wrong! I caught you!"

I've been baited by better posts than that in my time but because I'm "new" here I'll restrain myself and not return fire. Instead I'll do the "right thing" and comment on your post:

First things first: Josh Smith was NOT pretty much the 2nd biggest name out there, behind Howard. There's a point guard that plays for the Clippers you might have heard of, his name is Chris Paul. Most fans refer to him as CP3. You do recall he was a free agent this off-season too, don't you?

Which makes Smith #3... and one could argue that Iguodala is "better" than Smith for this team... which would make Smith #4.

But that's just semantics... I'm always up for some antics :-)

Secondly... my "What Now" post put some names out there for discussion. A discussion you didn't add to. What valid reason can you give for not adding to this discussion but instead posting your "You were wrong" comment in this thread?

Could you not find ONE thread where one of those 28 posts were made? It would be logical for you to make your point that I was wrong in one of those threads... wouldn't it?

I don't know why you've chosen to call me, and only me out on this. I could assume you have some kind of man crush on me and if I chose that option I'd be rather amused... and a little disturbed by it. But it's the internet and there are strange people posting strange things every second of the day. I'll just assume you're one of them and return to the discussion at hand.. which is:

Now What? We got Smith... where do we go from here?

How much would Mo Williams cost? He's looking for a starting gig, and ours isn't locked down.

I think the next move is to consider a salary dump from a team looking to do one. I'd rather take guys that way and add a 2014 pick instead of overpaying rotation guys. I want to see how some of the new addition works out. I think there is a lot of potential to make a move that way. I also think that i'd consider the idea of dealing Monroe if we got star talent back. I'd consider Rondo in that category but have no exact name for you. Joe needs to collect more picks right now. The time is right.
