Is this something Jefferson said or an opposing GM said?

Opposing GM on why Al Jefferson chose Bobcats: "Best city in America. Once they win a little, and they will, it'll be free-agent priority."
Would love to know who the GM is. I'm sure this is nowhere close to the majority, but still cool to see.
The way Rod Higgins works he could probably qualify as an "opposing GM."

Re: The 2013 free agency thread.
Our current roster sits at ?
Kemba-Sessions
Henderson?-Gordon
MKG-Taylor
Zeller- McBob-Adrien?
Jefferson-Biz-Haywood
So our current roster sits at 10 for sure, but could be 12 if we are indeed keeping Jeff Adrien and able to sign Henderson. Also, have heard some rumblings about how we may want to move Haywood, but I think we should hold onto him, since he is only making 2 million, is a vet pressence, and he is still a 7 footer if we need him.
So that leaves us with a mininimum of three roster spaces to fill assuming we sign Hendo and Keep Adrien and Haywood. Obviously we need to add a third point guard, probably a cheap shooter on the wing, and someone related to Michael Jordan...
We still will have our room exception after signing Henderson, so we can either sign one guy for that 2.5, or split it up between a few players... I expect at least one guy to stick from the summer league team though, just have no idea who it will be.

Going down that list, Foye, Jamison, Hansbrough, Odom, Blair, Ronnie Brewer, Oden, Mullens, O'Neal, Billups, and Udrih could all be in play for the minimum.
I can't imagine we'd hold on to Adrien considering we've now got four guys who warrant big minutes at the 4 and 5. Hendo is coming back unless there's an insane offer, I'm sure of that much.JMAC3 wrote:Our current roster sits at ?

Foye and Morrow are great shooters who I think we should look into.
investigate Adam Silver

Re: The 2013 free agency thread.
Actually, given how close we are to the cap, we should be able to bring in someone via the Non-taxpayer Mid-level Exception just as long as the the amount we sign the person (or persons) to would put us over the cap.
Assuming we bring back Hendo, I'd like to fill the remaining spots with at least 2 of: a third point guard, a legit 3-point threat, and a vet wing who isn't Ben Gordon. Foye and Jamison immediately jump out, as for a third PG...someone call up ballhore, see if DJ is free.

Anthony Morrow would be a nice hometown addition. Pretty good sharp shooter. We should look to the summer league for a 3rd PG....Seth Curry might even end up fitting the bill.
I also agree that Hendo will be back...but I predicting just on the 1 year QO.

Re: The 2013 free agency thread.
Francisco Garcia resigns for 2.6mil, 2 years, Darren Collison will receive only 1.9 mil. Damn talk about some great deals for both teams. I understand that Collison's stock is not at its best after Mike James took his starting spot, but I thought we all just saw Garcia hit a ton of threes and guard KD in the playoffs. He's worth much more than a mil per year.

So, Denver gets Hickson for three years/$15 million, Atlanta gets Millsap for two years/$19 million, and we get Al for three years/$41 million. Wow.
Humble yourself.

Well, I only named two other players. But I guarantee you most Jazz fans would say Millsap is at least as good as Jefferson.
Humble yourself.

Hickson won't teach Biz (and others) top low post moves.
He won't teach him how to guard them.
He won't be a veteran non-scrub presence.
Hickson would be signed for completely different purposes, I guess we just can't compare numbers like that.

Seems like a lot of coin for what amounts to the "hope" that Jefferson will do those things; they aren't a given by any stretch.
And even if so, if we're looking for a guy to coach Biz (and others), why don't we hire a coach to do that and save almost $9 million a year in cap space? A guy like Patrick Ewing would be an interesting choice if we could bring him in.

Jefferson is the best offensive big in the league. Hickson doesn't hold a candle to him.

On the bright side: had we signed Millsap or Hickson, Tyrus wouldn't necessarily be gone.
