The Team's Identity
I love the identity that this team is going to bring. You win championships by being elite at something and our roster is set up to be an elite defensive team. Rebounding and defense is what is going to take us to a title, but i think we are one piece away, I'm hoping we can land Rondo without giving up Dre or Moose or KCP or we miss the playoffs get a few lucky bounces and somehow end up with a top 3 draft pick to draft Marcus Smart. Both rondo and smart are excellent defenders and rebounders for point guards, and both are leaders although I think Smart is a better potential leader. Rondo would be an excellent fit, but if we can somehow get smart he would fit perfectly with his rebounding toughness leadership, and intense tenacious defense. He led the ncaa in steals per 36 minutes and has the size to be a defensive monster, combined with his athleticism and developing jumper I'm hoping we end up with him. I know its a pipe dream, but if we can land one of rondo or smart, without losing any major pieces this team can be really scary.

Re: The Team's Identity
you cant get rondo because that would make the offense even worse because he cant stretch a defense like Knight can and he's also smaller

Re: The Team's Identity
If we were to get Rondo, we would have to get rid of Monroe also. Like the previous poster said, we would need another shooter at the wing with Rondo. Honestly, I'd be very happy to trade Monroe and Stuckey for Rondo. If it took Monroe and Knight, I would still do it. However, we would need to sign Jeff Green too. We need a SF. But to be honest, I'd be more happy with Monroe/Dre over Smith/Dre.

I like how our team is looking and the defensive/rebounding identity, but unless that one piece is Lebron, we're more than one piece away.

I want to see Dumars pull off a Monroe/Stuckey/CV for Rondo/Wallace/Brooks

Find a way to sign Corey Brewer and Gary Neal if you want more defense

When you look at that line up, i see defense and athletic.
defense will be the thing that will allow this team to compete, and it's a welcome change to the teams we've receently seen from detroit.
Smith, KCP, Mitchell and Siva all have huge defensive potential, so it's a nice change.
detroit is now a big defensive team.

KCP, KNight and Moose with Balanced scoring and Dre and JS for clean up.

Re: The Team's Identity
Add Tony Mitchell into this framework and we have a beastly defense.
With the going to work team, the defense was amazing, but they were aweful at running the fast break. Rip would pull up for jump shots! I remember getting so frustrated at the Nets just tearing us apart on fast break points.
This new Pistons team may not have much shooting, but it has the ability to get a lot of points on the fast break following blocks or rebounds. This is where JSmoove will be the biggest help, showing our team how to finish at the rim!! That's why I love the KCP pick now that we have Smith. KCP has elite athleticism and can get above the rim with ease. Stuckey was awful finishing layups. Knight needs to learn how to facilitate these fast breaks, but Cheeks will help with that.

Re: The Team's Identity
Watching Siva play yesterday showed me he can get into the paint at will. All he needs to do from there is get a floater going. The floaters don't even need to go in, as Dre and Smith will be there for put-backs. It's hard to block out for a rebound from a PG floater, because you have to guard for the 'oop or the layup
