We could just run a 3 man rotation for pf and center and be fine. I doubt Ivan would get a ton of minutes anyway.

So we'd pay almost $10 million per season for a backup PF?
That seems unwise...

But it's not really a backup PF in this case, you're playing with words, instead of numbers.
He wouldn't be the second guy entering the spot, playing less than the starting guy on the same spot.
Milsap, even from the bench, would be the guy playing the main minutes at PF, so why looking at him like a backup PF ?

Yeah, a 3 man rotation works great because you can cover each other when there's foul trouble and still keep consistent level of play. It puts more pressure on teams that aren't as deep. It allows the coach to find the best matchups. It will just work better than having big warm bodies trying to fill the gaps. I also think Muscala is going to be a decent contributor as well. Lots of possibilities. Then when Bebe comes to town... :)

Minny has offered Pen $12 million per year.

Are we actually prepared to do that?

Honestly, Pek is a load and a double-double waiting to happen. I'd like to get him and keep Teague.

Paul Millsap left Utah because he wants to be a starter and play big minutes, he clashed with Corbin many times last year and they couldn't guarantee his spot this year with Favors & Kanter on the rise.

So I'm pretty sure he didn't sign with Atlanta to be Horford backup.....

He would still get the minutes. The lineup could be organized to where he and al starts together, one comes off, ect. The minutes would still be there.

Playing 30 minutes from the bench is not the same of 35 as a starter

Ok, i'll say again: Paul Millsap left Utah because he wants to be a starter and play big minutes

Ask Jazz fans about how many times he complained about his role last year

You are being too technical when it comes to the actual numbers. He would get his starter quality minutes. Maybe all 3 average 32. Maybe pekovic only does 26 and the other two 35. The fact is that he would be a starter (al comes off bench, pekovic does) and he would be a central part of the offense. No way he complains about that.

There's a solution ;-)

Start him at SF for 5min, then start the 3 big rotation system.
He starts and plays a lot (30min at PF and 5min at SF)

But . . . what if we didn't sign him for to play PF in front of Al Horford? Maybe he looked around, found the Hawks to be his best chance for a payday, and took the money.

See, you can insist all you want but, for us, the choice is Horford or Millsap at PF. Guess what we vote. And we believe our management thinks the same.

Besides, in UTAH, he was often playing behind inferior players at PF. Y'all have been giving Favors and Kanter (who might one day be better but weren't in 2012-13) minutes to develop them - at the expense of Millsap's minutes at PF. And there he was in a walk year, not playing as much and where he wanted to, just so the kiddies could advance.

OK, been chewing on the report that MIN is ready to offer Pekovic $12M annually.

A 5 yr/$60M contract with 7.5% raises on his y1 salary per year would result in a y1 salary of a little less than $10.5M. A 4yr salary starting @ $13.5M (see D21's excellent post on our current cap figures) with 4.5% raises would be a 4yr/~$57.5M deal. Pek's max would be $14.625M ($58M x 25%) with 4 years and the 4.5% increases would result in a gross of 4yr/~$62.5M. It does look like we have some headroom to offer Pek, but MIN still has the right to match.
