Is it possible Rockets will give us TPE for Dwight?

Post#1 » by ngcoolman » Mon Jul 8, 2013 12:49 pm

I know there is no incentive for Rockets to do a S&T with Lakers when they can sign Dwight outright. However, do you think they will consider a S&T so that we can get back a TPE just for good will?

Now thats what I really want from Houston. Man that would be great to get one fat TPE when sending dwight over there. We could use that at some point in the future. But I doubt Jim and Mitch do it because they may not want to help Dwight get that 5th year at 30mill. Heard Dwight already has in place the 4 year 88mill contract with an ETO 2016

With the new CBA, my understanding is the only way Dwight get the 5th year at 30M is to resign with the Lakers. Dwight will get exactly the same deal he will get directly from Rockets S&T or not. There is really no incentive for Rockets to agree a S&T with Lakers except for good will.

If Rockets give us TPE, they have nothing to lose and can at least give us back sth to work with. A huge TPE can be useful to acquire players from teams rebuilding which want to dump salaries.

No. The only way is if Asik really screams and cries about Dwight coming, they may want to do a S/T for Dwight.
Then maybe a tpe would be involved.

Haven't we discussed awhile ago that a S&T to Houston doesn't make any sense from Houston's standpoint because the new CBA prevents adding the 5th extra year?

What changed now?

But do we want Asik? His contract is at reasonable price. But I may prefer Lin. He fits MDA system well. Is it possible we trade Nash and Dwight (S&T) for TPE + Lin? This way, it won't affect our 2014 cap situation.

Nothing changes. I just ask the question to see anyone see Rockets willing to do Dwight (S&T) for a large TPE. They won't give up any picks or any players. Of course they have no incentive to do it except that they may want to at least give us some compensation as a sign of good will.

It depends on Dwight. We know that Dwight always wants to please everyone. He may feel better if Rockets can give back LAL a large TPE (which is at least something). Rockets may as well do it to please Dwight because they have nothing to lose. A motivated Dwight is the best thing Rockets can wish.

Lin needs the ball to be effective... we already have Kobe and Nash.

Dwight only wants to please himself... He's not going to help us one bit... If he wanted to help us, he would have kept GSW as a destination.

And of course we want Asik. He's kind of the prototypical C in the new NBA. He hustles, defends and rebounds. He's the ideal role-player big for a perimeter-focused modern contending team.

Yup!!!

And we got to kill all these Dwight threads too. We look desperate like a country song about The baby mama leaving with the kid the truck and the dog.

Skip Dwight. Its his loss and not ours. If anything we havr gone thru some bumps in the road Magic/Shaq etc and we bounced right back.

Lets move on.

Just read news that OKC is getting 7M TPE from MIN by giving them cash. We sure can do the same? Having a MAX TPE may help our rebuild for 2014? E.g. like we can sign 1 or 2 MAX up to the cap and then use the TPE to sign another one?
