Morrow's played mostly SF since coming into the league....but yes, he can also play SG.

I cant see Mitchell making it off the bench now. Thats doubtful unless theres an injury.

Your breakdown makes sense from a bball standpoint because Smith is the furthest thing from a 3 but you kind of co sign why this is such a bad deal.

We paid 56 mill for a backup 4 whos gonna play 15 ish mins at the 3.

Our goal should be having Monroe & Drummond on the floor together as much as possible because they play perfectly together & had dominant potential.

An 18ppg/8rpg/4apg/2 blk SF/PF playing 35 minutes per game with elite defense at the prime of his career is good value.

again us & the Hawks are much different teams.

elite d vs 4's at times (his motor questions/lack of effort are common knowledge), not 3's.. I cant see him keeping up with Lebrons & KD's for 35 mins a game.

& under your breakdown (which again makes sense bball wise bc Josh isnt a 3) Singler or Middleton will have to cover the Lebrons, Melo's & KDs for close to 35 mins per game which is a nightmare.

This deal reeks of instant gratification for Dumars. Smells like the guy wants to make the playoffs so badly

This isn't how you do it when you have a roster like this. Play it out. If it works, good. If it doesn't, you still have top 5 protected lottery pick

Trying to fit Drummond with Smith is hard. Both are athletic high jumpers without a jumpshot

I'd bank on Monroe improving his midrange first than Smith can ever do to fit Drummond

Some great points, like I said patience is very difficult & clearly something Joe Dumars doesnt have in the least after 09 & now this.

Its hard not to see it as a fan signing, its difficult to see a fit here.

Been posted multiple times, though I believe HIS per is more like 14.5 or 15.4 (I have a mild dyscalculia) and his opponent PER is actually 8.9

We now have a very strong front court. What we are severely lacking is a veteran perimeter player who can flat out shoot the ball. This next move has to come via trade.
For the first time in my life I realized that I was truly happy.......then I remembered I was drunk.

No. His Per was actually 16.1, his opponents Per was 8.9.

wow great stat find. I think we finally found that elite defender at SF that we've sorely lacked since Tayshaun's decline years ago in like 06-07. Actually not so much Tay's decline, but the SF position just got so much stronger and you need a more physical defender now at that position. Tayshaun was always better guarding SGs than SFs too. Even the Artests and Jeffersons back in 04 gave him trouble.

We can also match up now when those teams go small and put thier SF at PF. No way Monroe could've guarded Carmelo at PF, so we would've been forced to take him out anyways. This way we can now sub Monroe for Smith at PF, instead of Kyle Singer lol

What is this a stat of, last season or career?

Also, 27% looks like just 1 area outside the paint, not 27% everywhere outside the paint.

If he can just score the corner 3's ala Gerald Wallace, it would help creating just enough spacing IMO. He has to work on it thought.

30% last year.

No one is playing Josh Smith honestly, he cant shoot & playing him honestly will leave them susceptible to his athleticism getting by them, everyone will sag & double Monroe/Drummond, getting him to take a jumper is a huge win & luckily he takes them at will.

I'll join you. I didn't want him but considering the possibilities he was by far the best we could've done.

Now we need a PG capable of throw lobs to Drummond and Smith.

I agree with you there. It looks like an empty buss so far. Feel free to take any seat you like!

Josh Smith got most of his money because he's a defensive game changer. He's got some offensive usefulness when he's not jacking up shots but it seems counter productive to only focus on the weaknesses of a player's game. He'll earn his money on defense...something that every team in the league has a use for regardless of who else is on their roster.

...and it's getting old w/ some of you. Multiple sources and advanced stat breakdowns have shown he's elite at defending 3s...yet he's not a 3 because he fails your eyeball test. Think you're eyeball tests need revisioning.
