Re: Just extended an offer to Will Bynum
I just read about that. Apparently he turned down the Knicks offer of 1.7 million, so he's looking for as much cash as he can get. Hopefully it isn't anymore more than 2/6.

If theKnicks offered $1.7, hopefully its 2/$4 mil....not 2/6

I like it much better than Wayne Ellington. Would be shocked if Stuckey is on our roster by October

I don't know what "EOM" means, but given the composition of our team post draft and with Josh Smith's signing, Bynum makes sense for the Pistons. He's a good guy and teammate and a very hard worker - so he has Pistons DNA. He's a fanstastic scorer off the bench, running the second unit - and he's a great lob passer. Him throwing lobs to Drummond, Smith and Mitchell would be ideal. He's also a fine penetrator, and will get the easy assists from penetrating and dishing to guys like Knight, KCP, Singler and Middleton - all of whom will knock down shots.
The thing I (we) hate about him is how bad he is defensively. He just can't keep him man in front of him. But, with the incredible defensive talent we've assembled now at F and C, we can cover for him now.
At the end of the season, I wanted to not resigned Bynum. But with the moves we've made, he's a fit now.

I can see Ellington on the Pistons, but am not sure of his asking price. As for Stuckey, it's obvious he won't be a Piston forever, however, he's got a lot of value because of his expiring contract. We need to trade him to get value for him - but might need to suck it up and wait for the right deal to move him. It might be the case that he's on our team until February. I don't like that because I'd rather be developing our long term rotation beginning now, and playing Stuckey could get in the way of that and the development of some of our young guys. On the other hand, the Pistons need to be smart and patient if necessary, because we absolutely could do very well in trades for Stuckey and CV separately or even in one expiring-contract-pallooza deal.

$3 mil/year. I think he's earned the opportunity to retire here. Last year he finally figured out his role.

I still think I would rather get a backup pg who can shoot, we need shooting and bynum isnt much of a shooter.

I like Stuckey. When he's on his game he is very good on both offense and defense. The problem is he is too streaky, does not display leadership qualities, and sulks when he doesn't get his way. If Cheeks is as good as they say he is with developing guards, then we should hang on to Stuck and see if Cheeks can turn him into the Allstar that Dumars envisioned him as.

He still shot 45% from the field and made all his teammates around him better... INCLUDING CV!

Will Bynum turns his teammates into spectators more often than he makes anybody better imo.

I wish we could've snagged Andre Miller or Darren Collison.

Not a good fit. We can't afford to play guards who can't shoot from outside at this point. Especially when they also don't distribute the ball.

Collison would have been the perfect fit.

I like this idea. Either one of them would fit exactly what we need in keeping the floor spaced. I would be on board for just trading a 2nd rounder for Ridnour. Isn't Minnesota trying to trade someone away to save them some money?

Re: Just extended an offer to Will Bynum
Picture our team grabbing every rebound and blocking tons of shots, and then having a bunch of super athletes flying down the court on the fast break. Bynum is one of the best guards in the league playing at a breakneck pace. Him as a second unit guard on our team as constituted, makes more sense than it did having him for the last few years. It worked great last season with Drummond off the bench. Now we have Drummond, Smith, Mitchell, Singler (major hard working runner), Middleton, and even Knight - guys who can and will play with very high pace.
Bynum on our team could work just great. We aren't asking him to run a traditional half-court offense.
