Looks like we're ready to offer.

Me and Chris Grant, we're not that different.

Free pass to AMF Bowling for life.

I do wonder what 'lucrative' means exactly.

We apparently had a 'lucrative' offer for Oden too.

Im still not buying it. I think its one of two things:

-Grant leaking it to let the team that he is currently trying to work a trade with that he will just sign Bynum if they dont agree to his demands soon.

or

-Bynum's group leaking it and trying to get some team to swoop in with a multi year deal.

I could be wrong, but Bynum just doesnt fit Grant's mold. Maybe Coach Brown is really in love with Bynum and is pulling hard for him. That could be about the only scenario where I see this happening.

I'm down to offer him every bit of capspace we have for a 1 year deal if Gilbert is on board. Haha

Edit: split Him and Varejao 24 minutes each at C.... try and keep them both healthy. Games off here and there. We'd have a deep enough frontcourt to do so. I like the idea.

the cavs would need to utilize the pre-existing injury carve out in exhibit C of the UPC to give themselves some protection):

the cavaliers have team options on gee/earl clark in 2014, i would assume they could move varejao for future picks + an expiring, and they can also stash karasev overseas for the next 2 years (he's only 19) to avoid his $1.2M cap hit..

the following players would place the cavs at $28.7M in salary for 2014: kyrie, jack, thompson, bennett, waiters, zeller..which leaves them with just short of $30M in available space if the cap stays at $58.5M in 2014

since bynum is unrestricted and they won't retain bird rights unless they give a 3+ year via s&t (with no team or player options) they can only decrease the contract by 4.5% each year...the cavs should offer a 2 year/$23.5M deal with $12M in 2013 and then $11.5M team option in 2014, which still allows them to sign LBJ to a near max deal

if bynum peforms well over the next 2 years, the cavs will have his early bird rights to go over the cap and resign him to a larger contract in 2015 when kyrie's extension will kick in...

**edited, had a mistake on contract decreases

Disaster waiting to happen. Say he does sign a one year deal and has a good year, we give him a big extension and he will go down the following year. Sooner or later this guy is gonna go down and eat up our cap on the sidelines.

DO NOT WANT.

his red flags have red flags

let's just give Zeller roids and have him murder puppies until he turns into proper nba center.

Sign and trades have to be for 3 years. And the max drop/raise is 4.5%

Also the LBJ thing isn't going to happen.

Aren't we all :D

Anyway - yes a one year deal works for me. Long term - well I think Dupp makes a good point. Will be tough to make him a long term offer.

But how much is "lucrative?" Is CLE willing to give Bynum almost all their remaining cap for one year, keeping the future clear for James?
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

You think it is speculation that he is in Cleveland right now talking to our FO?

I think he's got to be looking for multiple years first and foremost. If we're offering for one almost as much as others are offering for two then he'll spend the next year in Cleveland.
