Cross Fit conditioning is amazing. It will get you in great shape. Now I agree he also needs to be working on his offense a ton and it won't help there. For that he needs to be forever in a gym.

The crossfit part. I've always kept myself in great shape doing the typical gym routine and running distance/intervals, but added crossfit about a month and a half ago since I'm leaving for the army next month and the results are awesome.

Crossfit (at least my gym) incorporates many of the most highly recommended lifts (owner is a former USC Football strength coach), but also adds a level of HIIT that you don't get just pounding out reps at your local gym, which really helps with muscular endurance and is much closer to what he'll actually be doing on a basketball court.

That isn't to say he shouldn't also be on a basketball court working on his fundamentals. I don't see any problem with him getting in a morning "crossfit style" workout and an afternoon session with a big man coach working on getting better.

Does anyone actually think Biyombo's problem on the court is that he is not in sufficient athletic shape? Really? The guy needs to learn the game of basketball.

I believe no one said he isn't in great shape. The mans in phenomenal condition. Hopefully he's doing what Swedd mentioned and that's crossfit in morning basketball in afternoon.

Is anybody here familiar with Lucas Nogueira? I remember him seeing in the World U-19 Championship two years ago in Latvia. Kind of cool to see some of those guys make it to the league (Valanciunas, Meyers Leonard, Hardaway Jr., Karasevic, Saric, etc. were also there).

But what I wanted to say is that I'm scared of how similar to Biz he is. Why am I scared? Because this guy might not make the lottery in a weak draft, hence doubts about Biz have started to creep up in me.

Both guys have started off their careers in Spain as limited role players who come in the game to finish in the transition, block shots and basically use their athleticism. He has the same struggles as Biz with learning the game, finishing and scoring from the post. Nogueira almost looks a bit more fluid than Biz in his movements.

The only big difference I guess is that Biz is a helluva worker, while there are red flags all over Nogueira as he has a poor work ethic. Other than that it's not soothing to see a guy so similar to Biz not being valued high in this year's draft. I know the worker Biz is, but I wouldn't blame a fan of another team for superficially calling them both practically the same player.

Brazilian member had this to say about him:

So... about Lucas " Bebê" Nogueira, here in Brazil, he isn't a famous guy and has always been seen as a raw player who has a good atleticism, but never expected him very much. We are even surprised by hype in the mocks draft, because he has appeared in most of them as a first-round pick. But also has to be noted that he has improved his game ... it's running well in the floor, good in pick and roll and protect the rim, anyway, he is a raw and a project ... but in the future, he can be a solid player like the other brazilian, Tiago Splitter.

Sounds about right.

I think that's a huge difference for players who are known as raw and athletic.

Bebe kind of reminds me more of a cross between Varejao and Tristan Thompson.

Biz has good form on his jumper. Hope it translates into games.

"Asked about center Bismack Biyombo, Clifford said he doesn’t want Biyombo getting overwhelmed by areas of his game that need work. 'I’ve told him... instead of trying to be outstanding at everything, pick one or two things,' Clifford said. 'Above all else, his rebounding and his team-and-individual defense. His offense will come from there.'"

He's always had a nice looking shot I honestly think it is more so his lack of confidence and second guessing himself as to the reason why his offensive game hasn't translated well so far. As far as this video goes he looks fantastic. Seeing Biz with Ewing really puts a smile on my face.

Biz has always had decent form, but like Logander said, I think it is a lack of confidence in his shot.

Playing behind Jefferson the next 2-3 years will help him immensely. He was/is a long term project, but its going to pay huge dividends on down the road.

Playing behind Jefferson would probably be better for Biz than playing beside him. He might as well sit on the rim in that scenario b/c Biz will be rotating over so much he'll forget who his own assignment is. I wouldn't be surprised if we start McBob and Jefferson and brought Zeller and Biz off the bench honestly.

Yeah. When he gets the ball down low, he thinks too much instead of just going up strong.

I really believe in him though. I think he'll show improvement this year, and then the next one is when he'll really take off.

I really hope this is news that Biyombo is participating in basketball without borders.

I can't wait to see what he learns from the coaches whilst he does the drills.

Return to Charlotte Hornets
