Iguodala and foye sign and trade

Post#1 » by josh_nuggets » Mon Jul 8, 2013 7:47 am

Nuggets, Warriors, and Jazz are involved in trade talks where the Nuggets would sign-and-trade Iguodala (4-years/$48 million) to the Warriors, and the Jazz would sign-and-trade Randy Foye (3-years/$9 million) to the Nuggets. The Jazz would receive a draft pick from the Warriors. This trade would create a $12 million trade exception for the Nuggets

Really hope we don't do this.

Randy Foye is trash.

Don't agree at all. The Nuggets really need some depth at the two guard with some 3 pt ability--it doesn't have to be an allstar.

Now, if they don't do anything else at the 2, that will be another matter. But it looks like a nice addition to provide a little bit of outside shooting.

Foye is not trash, he kept Utah in a lot of games last year with his 3 point shooting. I hate to see him go. He is the best 3 point shooter we have had since Jeff Hornacek.

His defense isn't great, but his 3 point shooting is great.

i love anyone who can make 3's at a 40% clip.

with hamilton/fournier getting more minutes, foye in the mix, hickson & arthur able to hit the ft line shot....it should give this group some halfway decent spacing to work with....and better free throw shooting overall.

now i'm just waiting for andre miller to get shipped out.

For $3 mil per year, it's a very good signing (as is the Hickson signing at just over $5 mil). People keep saying the new FO is doing terrible and the sky is falling and blah blah blah. But with Iggy not re-signing, there wasn't really anything they could do via free agency due to the cap. These two guys might not be the biggest needs, but they are value contracts, adding to our depth, which gives them the capability to perhaps make a trade at the deadline for a more specific need.

We're not gonna win the championship next year, so stashing "value" contracts that are trade friendly is the best path this FO has right now. They can't go out and sign a FA outright, so I like these moves. Lots will still say this FO is dumb and they suck and shouldn't have been hired, etc, etc, but the same % of people said that when Masai was hired and all the "experts" kept saying his waiting game during the Melo trade was hurting him and he didn't know what he was doing and was gonna get a crappy deal, and then bam, turns out his plan worked. Translation here is let's give these guys a chance before we say they are trash.

Foye is a much better guy than people give him credit for. Really hard worker, good teammate, great character guy. Hard not to like him when he's on your roster.
