Peace has my respect. He was an integral part of the 10 season road to a ring

Remember in Game 5 vs. the Suns in 2010, Ron shot a three with 23 seconds on the shot clock and like 40 seconds on the game clock?

lol. After the game, he told Craig Seiger that he "never stops playing regardless of the clock."

Without Artest we don't get out the first round vs OKC, we don't close Phoenix, and we don't beat Boston.

Likewise without MWP, we simply don't beat Denver in game 7 as Pau and Bynum no showed the series; same for the next round when Metta and Kobe carried the team while Pau and Andrew were ghost on the consecutive night playoff games vs OKC

We will miss him. Would have loved for him to be back at a cheaper rate, but I can't blame him for opting in to 8 mil. Maybe he keeps the house and returns next season on the minimum

Thank You Ron Artest/Metta World Peace. You gave us great years of play.
You will always be remembered for your goofiness on and off the court and the game 7 win you gave us.

Kobe Bryant ‏@kobebryant 49s
Personally I'd keep Metta and make a run with the unit we have and just add a few pieces #keepthepeace #lakersstilldeciding

I would rather have Metta than Blake or Meeks or Hill tbh. Can't ever say there was a game Metta didnt come to compete, which is rare on this team outside Kobe and Fisher in recent years. Plus I really don't see Hill having a role under Dantoni, like I could envision stretch 4 Metta who was good last year. Pau/Kaman and Metta/Lamar to me would be solid

Besides Blake hasn't been good most his stay in la anyhow. Him recreating the streak he had to end the year isn't probable neither is hill getting a lot of time. But I get the business side unless if we can offload one of them to a team

MWP already knew this was a possibility... but like Kobe said, I hope the Lakers keep him for one more run.
