Couldn't be happier with this move. He brings great B Ball IQ an intensity that I have not seen from this young team. He will be great for our big men and I think will connect with Smith a lot. Very excited to yell Sheeeeeeed again!

Re: Sheed to coaching staff?
He's going to do wonders for our frontcourt as well as the rest of the lineup. Cheeks developing our guards (KCP and Knight) with Sheed developing our big men (Smith, DrumRoe), this is going to be a beast team soon.

Re: Sheed to coaching staff?
Amazing.
If Sheed does his job... with Drummond and Smith, if he can just get Monroe to get a little better at 1 on 1 D..... wow we could have the best interior D in the whole league. Our offense will be **** but still, DEFENSE!
I'll always respect a Detroit Pistons team that can play great defense.

Don't mind it, but most of the excitement here is just emotional.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

I think he will keep it loose and instill confidence in the young bigs.... however he needs to come with a shock collar for when he starts bitching at the refs

Re: Sheed to coaching staff?
He doesn’t have to file retirement papers with the league because he was on a one-year deal with the Knicks, thus he isn’t on an existing contract.
He signed a two-year deal to join Maurice Cheeks’ staff and will mainly work with the Pistons’ young bigs -- Greg Monroe, Andre Drummond and second-round pick Tony Mitchell.

Re: Sheed to coaching staff?
Perhaps his most challenging order of business will be helping Drummond develop a low-post offensive game. "Well, we're going to get on that," Wallace said. "That's what we're working on. That's why Mo brought me aboard. You know, he's still young, he's still raw, he's depending on his athleticism a lot -- which, to tell you the truth, a lot of 19-year-olds do. But the thing that I think will get 'Dre over, he's not one of those 'I know' guys, like everything you tell them, they're like, 'I know, I know.' No, 'Dre, he's a sponge. He sucks it up. He might not like it but he doesn't complain about 'I've got to do this,' or, 'I've got to do that.'"
Wallace said he "never expected" to be an NBA coach until the end of his career and said it was important to him to pass on his knowledge to others who follow him. "I'm going to do what I can to have those guys prepared for the season and to make those guys better ballplayers and better people throughout life, period," he said. "You know, basketball is just a quarter of our lives, for those who play it, and we have the rest of our lives after that. So I'll just try to give my life experiences to them."
Oh my god.
Drummond is going to become a monster.

So excited. Our bigs are going to get better. I can feel it. One thing I hope Sheed works on is helping Monroe become a better defender. He doesn't have to be elite, just a good man on man defender. Our front court will be beastly if he pulls that off.

I like this news a lot. Guy was a very smart player. Very good defensively. Didn't rely on the athletic ability he started his career with.
Plus...Pistons just need some personality and fire. I'll take it.

Re: Sheed to coaching staff?
Great news. Smartest low-post player Pistons have ever had. People dogged Sheed for not living up to his talent his last 3 or 4 playing years, but the truths is you could see his wheels were basically shot by 2006.

Sheed was easily our best acquisition of this off season.
