Re: Official Speculation Thread Part ? (Will update tomorrow
I was just talking specific PG stuff. He's generally good at defense, he needs to improve his man-to-man on PGs though. Will see if he's better at staying in front of SGs.

I've seen footage of him blanketing both Trey Burke and MCW in college. Can't wait till he goes head to head with those two.

If we as a team are committed to transitioning Oladipo to point guard than he is in the best position right now to make that transition. I think if a team drafted him to play point and threw him out there as a starter he would probably crash and burn pretty hard. The thing about us is Nelson is going to be our starter and we can bring Oladipo along slowly taking all of the back up point minutes and slowly learning the position. I think if we are committed to him at the point than this is the best place for him to make a transition.

I agree 100 percent. Have him start at the 2 and slide him over to the 1 for back up minutes. He maybe able to start the last ten games of the season at point, and take over full duties next season. Wouldn't want to throw him to the wolves too early.

No shot IMO.
Oladipo honestly if the roster stays intact will becoming off the bench.

Re: Official Speculation Thread Part ? (Will update tomorrow
been thinking alot about julius randle lately he's already 6'9 so he should project as a PF in the NBA right?
Vucevic/KOQ
Randle/Nicholson
Harris/Harkless
Oladipo/Harkless
?/?
with our roster composition, Randle makes alot of sense no? then we either just need to address PG, or Oladipo is converted there eventually

aol4532 on bill russell
I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

on a scale of 1 to 10, imma give Oladipo a 6 for his play at the point since it's not his primary position..

Glen Davis underwent surgery on his left foot on Monday and is questionable for the beginning of training camp.
It was reported this week that Davis had a setback while working out at his alma mater LSU. "He’s just been having some discomfort," said his agent John Hamilton. "He doesn’t anticipate problems going forward. We just need to give it time to heal properly." Having checked in at over 300 pounds a few times last season, he's going to have his work cut out for him getting in shape in time to secure a primary role with the Magic.

I would love to have Randle (based on what I've seen so far) if we don't get Wiggins. He seems like the complete package at PF. Post moves, athleticism, 3 point range, ball handling and passing.
He's definitely set to become a franchise player barring injury or major set back. His size and size remind me of a CWebb/Amare combo.

He and Gordon are at the top of my list if we don't get Wiggins. It not only make sense but would be a deadly lineup if we could snatch up a PG like Wall in free agency. If our youngster progress, that could be a championship level club (with a few vets sprinkled in).

His best is yet to come. No worries there.
I wonder what the people who liked Eric Bledsoe around here would've thought about him if they gauged him off his SL performances. He was pretty much a lousy shot, who had zero range and was Mr. Turnover Machine last summer. Fast forward one year and we had some Magic fans begging for him. Crazy huh?

Ehhh....Bledsoe was a TOP 3 PG recruit coming out of HS.
He has ALWAYS had PG instincts & recognition.
Just a casualty to joining Kentucky with John Wall (HAVE NO CLUE WHY...Must have been some mad honeys & money thrown his way by Cal![]()

)
EB has played PG his whole life. That season at Kentucky he had to adjust. Coming into the NBA he had to adjust back.
I have faith in Oladipo...Just not putting my faith in him at the PG position. WAY TOO EARLY FOR THAT.
I don't know EB's HS background, but I've yet to see him consistently display the cognitive ability to run the PG position.

I hoped Nicholson would be a little closer defensively
he still needs so much work on it. At least he sucked a little less on Monday.

Are you implying his problem is that he's mentally (Please Use More Appropriate Word)?

Randle has to sell me on defense. We have plenty of offensive power in the post. I need an enforcer. I love his size, but I'm not sure about his length. I want someone who will shut it down on defense and I don't see that out of Randle. Another thing that is said about him is that he settles for his jump shot too much.
I'm sure he'll be a star in the league because of his offense, but I'm looking for the right fit for this team and I don't see it right now with Randle. I would choose some others if I'm picking in the Top 5.

You gotta put that comparison into context. I wanted Bledsoe, and I'd be patient with developing him as a project at PG. But that's when the price tag is Afflalo. Would I take a project at PG with the #2 pick when he's projected as a good SG? Naw.

I wouldn't put much stock in him saying that. He was asked directly does he feel like a PG? What is he supposed to say? No? When he's starting at PG in SL? I'm a little more open to the idea of him at PG than I was yesterday. He looked more under control today, but I still doubt it. But he seems to me to be the kind of guy that commits fully to whatever task he's given. If the team has him playing PG, then he'll call himself a PG when asked.
But come the regular season, especially if Jameer is still here, and likely so, he'll find his minutes at SG.
