Get The Band Back Together Campaign

Post#1 » by WOX_69 » Tue Jul 9, 2013 1:12 am

With the Lakers potentially amnestying MWP and the departure of Dwight, many feel that the Lakers are headed to mediocrity. However, the Lakers could potentially have a small ace up their sleeve.

Image

What does everyone in that photo have? At least one ring. Two of them are still on the team, the two most important pieces. And with that, we could be in position to acquire several more important cogs.

Odom: Lakers have reached out to him. He's won two rings with Kobe and Pau. He's in LA due to stint with the Clippers last year. When motivated he can produce, and Kobe I feel can get that out of him. If you offer he a one year vet minimum with a two year team option I believe he can come through and make a difference.

Vujacic: We need the shooting and I'm certain his pesky defensive ways are still there. He loves Kobe to death and Kobe will still "Kill him" if he starts slippin'. Also won two rings with Kobe and Pau

Farmar: LA native, went to Taft High School and UCLA. The Lakers and Farmar apparently have talked. Played with Vujacic last year overseas so their chemistry is still there. Athletic, and will actually penetrate to distribute or score. Also can hit the three ball. Again, won two rings with Kobe and Pau.

Ariza: In the last year of his contract in Washington. It was his play late in the 09 season and in the playoffs that got him his contract with Houston in the offseason. Playing with Kobe and Pau and was hitting threes at a high clip and playing great defense (Remember those two key steals against Denver in the WCF). Again, another LA native, having gone to Westchester High and UCLA. Now to get him, we'd obviously have to trade for him. I say throw Blake (Horrible) and Meeks for Ariza with some tweaking if necessary. Hell, get a third team involved, or fourth. Just make it work.

Reach out to Mbenga and Powell for big man insurance with the vet minimum. If we're gonna make a final stand before our salary is totally open in 2014, then let's bring back elements of the band that we know can do it.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

PG seems like he could be even better than Kobe... IMO.

You have a better way for us to compete next season?

Sure why not. We need someone to rally behind.

Might as well get Mbenga while we're at it.

Farmar - won't be a returning as a Laker this year as he has a contract that the Lakers are not willing to buyout.
Vujacic - might return

Totally support this, especially for Farmar, Sasha and Lamar.

Odom, Farmar, Sasha, Ariza if we can get those core 4 back I would be happy. Powell can be replaced by Jordan Hill. Seriously getting Odom, Farmar and Sasha i dont think would be out of the realm of possibility. It would be Ariza i feel would be a reach... Would we be able to Trade MWPs contract for Ariza instead of amnestying him?

I'll take back Ariza, Sasha, and maybe Odom (depending on his shape).

In all honesty, everyone outside of Kobe, Gasol and Bynum are all mediocre at best now in 2013. That team was 4 years ago people, and Gasol & Kobe were in their primes. Ariza is still solid, but hasn't even had a flash of greatness on a bad Wizards team. Odom is flat-out washed up, and guys like Sasha and Farmar have found comfort zones outside of the US.

Let's get real. It's almost 2014, most of those players stink now.

The only person in the bunch that has lost a step is Odom due to age, however he still is extremely active and when motivated can produce. Farmar, Vujacic and Ariza are all still in their twenties.

This pretty much means Phil is coming back. You know... Rambis also being on the coaching staff?... The triangle players.... The 5 that can shoot in Kaman?
