It's almost sad that the Mavs didn't keep him. Dirk would have been the perfect guy to learn from to expand his game, he definitely has skill.

Yeah, he's been impressing me. You're right it would've really benefited him with Dirk giving him tips how to score in the post with those fakes and counters since he already has some sound footwork. He's not the most athletic guy with the hops, but the way he moves on the floor for a player his size he's very coordinated. I like how fluid he is and not stiff/rigid like most 7-footers. Guys like Ryan Anderson and Andrea Bargnani run the floor awkwardly lol.

Definitely is very fluid and coordinated. He's not a great athlete in the traditional sense but he runs the floor well, not a stiff.

Sorry, I meant I think he will be better than Demar, not currently better. Mostly because of his ability to handle the ball better, also looks a lot smoother and more natural handling the ball, which I like in a SG.

He should be better at handling the ball considering he's a 6'6 PG not an SG. He really needs to work on his shooting percentage though but he's a very interesting prospect.

Whoops, thought he was a 2-guard. My bad!

In that case, great size at the point! No wonder he handles it so well. He could probably play the 2 at times as well if he puts on some more weight!
Props to TZ for the sig:

Miami/Brooklyn coming up... looking to see how Kabongo bounces back from that terrible performance... hope he does well.

KO is definitely an underrated athlete. There's a series of plays in the DX video where he's facing up a defender and blows by them to the rim and scores or gets fouled, mimicking TOR Bosh's favorite play. Getting by a defender with a first step, is athleticism value 101

Also this play alone shows a lot of his athleticism. The rare transition speed for a 7 footer, then the poster

People got wrapped up in Zeller's combine numbers, but Olynyk had just as athletic a game in college. He ran the floor as well, was able to blow by defenders more because of his ballhandling and there's a number of impressive dunk clips out there for him that I haven't seen Zeller match
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change

As to OKC, Jeremy Lamb and Steven Adams for Harden is looking pretty sweet. Ouch. In the end Jonas STRAIGHT UP for Harden would've a better deal for OKC.

What JV can get at summer league? There won't be many good (if any at all?) good rivals. All teams (Raptors included) will be full of chuckers who will have a single goal: to show off what they are capable off.
And there is not enough time to make many setups and various combinations. And JV as a center, won't even see the ball often. Not expecting him to shoot more than 10-12 times a game because simply he will be getting the ball as much as in main Raptors teams (in other words - rarely). So how this will beneficial for him I still cant see

I think it will be a good opportunity to improve his post game and develop other weak areas of his game as long as he gets the touches. If he plays for the Lithuanian National team they will be playing to his strengths and he won't exactly be learning/trying anything new.

hopefully this is true. I must admit I don't really know what exactly that summer league is. I thought they meet 2-3 days before league, have a few trainings and good to go. In game they basically rely on their individual skill and trying to show off themselves so they get a contract from NBA club.
But if it is more decent than that - might be useful then

Really impessed with Mason Plumlee.

Edit: has to work on his free throws though

I don't really see Siva playing much in the NBA. He has a nice quick release to counter against longer defenders closing out, but has a lot trouble actually making shots.

Was thinking the same thing, he even has his hair! lol

Got word last night – and it was no surprise and something that’s been “reported” quite often – that Nick Nurse is on board with Dwane Casey’s staff and he’ll be the head coach of the summer league team that’s going to convene in Vegas today or tomorrow.

No, we don’t know for sure who’s on the team and the only guys that really matter are Terrence Ross, Quincy Acy, Jonas Valanciunas and Julyan Stone but at least we know who’ll coach it. Nurse was the D League coach of the year last year and comes highly touted by people I trust who know that league well and was also the head coach of Great Britain at the London Olympics.

(Yes, he’d know Pops Mensa-Bonsu quite well and I presume that will stand him in good stead with many of you).

Great, hopefully he will be the head coach of the Raptors about 10-15 games in
Toronto Raptors: Where winning culture is developed after finishing 23-43... So much better than 20-46 because THAT is a disappointing season.

I don't know why it is bothering me but why is our Summer League team not confirmed yet? Is Masai just rounding up some random ballers at Hoopsdome for this event?

I really want to post up a thread about the lack of work Masai is doing since the Bargnani trade, but it will probably get locked, but Raptors are noticeably quiet lately, while other teams are moving pieces around to either tank or get better. I mean, if we wanted to do nothing, why not just let BC stay for one more year?

I'm guessing he thinks summer league is only for teams that have draft picks and actually draft people.
