A few free agents still out there who I've been told all have interest in the Lakers: Raja Bell, Kenyon Martin, Bobby Brown

isnt he already on an NBA roster somewhere?

It seems that Mem didn't give him qualifying offer and he becomes an UFA. Not sure anyone picks him up.

They are all vet who can contribute. But are we building the oldest team ever in NBA history?

Well, its a one year and over deal for the current team. Not much chance in getting promising prospects for 1 year vet min deals. Bell (if he can actually still play) makes sense since he was once known as a 3 pt shooting defensive wing. And Martin works too. The team does need an athletic wing too though.

We have the Vet Min to offer... What do you expect?

Usually, a team has a young solid core and fills out the roster with role playing vets when they get to this point in the process.

Players that will accept the Vet Min are usually unproven scrubs, or over-the-hill vets looking for one last shot at a ring. We don't even have that on paper, so what you're seeing is over-the-hill vets that want to play for/live in LA.

And on second thought, Bobby Brown is slightly younger but hasn't even been playing that well in Europe...

So it's no, maybe, no...

KMart still has his moments, and we could use PFs so maybe you give him a shot.

Actually, I wonder whether any young wing player who hasn't got a good offer yet will consider playing for us for 1 season at vet min. We are lacking SF and Kobe is not playing at the beginning of the season. It will provide them opportunity to shine. Moreover, consider we have ton of capspace next season, they can resign with us next season with a much improved contract. And in long term, playing in LA give them a lot of publicity and will help them to get more endorsement money.

WT said Anthony Morrow signs for Pelicans for a 2 years, vet-min contract. Why aren't we interested in him? He is a pure shooter that would fit MDA system.

Because we aren't giving out 2 years guaranteed or with player options. It's one year deals

It is vet min, adding 1M salary shouldn't affect our 2014 plan.

if they were to amnesty Metta, can the Lakers still get the full MLE given that they used the MMLE already? are those two different or the use of the amnesty can upgrade the MMLE to MLE?
