Re: Our Rotation
And where everybody else has gone?
You released Evans, right?
Who took Hayes, Salmons, Thornton, JT and Jimmer for pure cap space?
Your starting center will likely crumble down 20 games into the season if he's getting 25-28 minutes. Wright was a starter in Philly, to go to the bench for another bottom-dweller would be expecting too much, unless you give him $5+ million per.

Pete has 2 days left to give Douglas the QO before the deadline (June 30)
Can always re-sign him later since I doubt there are going to be teams scrambling for him. Still, too many guards without him.

Does that mean trading everyone? No. But it does mean that we shouldn't be looking to add short term talent. It also means we should look to trade any player who isn't:
a) Cheap
b) Really freaking good
c) A core piece
That means Thornton should be the first to go. Not only is he none of the above 3, but he's also a player that isn't a fit with the roster. You just can't carry this many players who can only play a single position. McLemore is a 2--that's it; Thornton is a 2--that's it; Jimmer is a one that has to play with a ball handling 2--that's it; Thomas is a PG--that's it. You have 4 guys that are locked into a specific position. Thornton just happens to be the oldest and making the most money. He needs to go.
If I'm the Kings I dump Thornton for as much as I can get (probably an unguaranteed or expiring contract at best) and possibly try to dump Thompson as well. Use the cap space to take on short contracts in exchange for prospects and draft picks. Our GM/assistant have proven they can draft well in the past, give them the ability to use that to their advantage.
Keep Outlaw and Hayes because, well, no other choice. Resign Evans if you don't have to break the bank. Resign Patterson next summer if he comes cheap. Give Cousins up to the max as long as he does well this year. Pray for a good haul in the 2014 draft and then start trying to get better starting that next season.
I agree with just about everything you have said, although if I could dump salary, I would invest in just a good SF who fits the defensive and 3pt ability role. That I would invest in.
Few would want to take JT's long term deal, but Thorton may be movable. I think we are stuck with Outlaw, and honestly need Salmons atm. Given a choice I would keep Chuck over JT only due to contract length. Said it before we resigned JT, would rather have a scrapper on the cheap just happy to be in the league getting mins.
Best bet is to throw in the towel one more year and build, not exist marginally.

I like this team, it might work. Its interesting that you mention Oden. I'd actually take a flyer on him. He'd probably come cheap, no one is going to give him a big deal. PLus i read somewhere that he's looking great, someone said he looks awesome. Why not sign him to a cheap deal? Low risk, potential awesome reward. Oden/DMC could be a fantastic frontline.
Don't know about Dalembert tho, I'd take him back, but I get the feeling he wouldn't want to come back, although it is a new ownership so that could make a difference.
Sometimes you just have to look yourself in the mirror and say....Tyreke Evans.
That just happened.
That just happened.

Re: Our Rotation
I don't think we need to attack these roster moves as if we're playing NBA 2k14 or something. We need marginal moves at best; tweaking the roster because we actually have real nice pieces. Our cry was just getting the right coach to placing them together to make jazz music.
It's no secret we are in a tight jam at the SG spot, but thankfully we have versatile players who can play multiple positions. Frankly, I'm not a fan of these kind of methodology, however often times we take a chain saw to do a job a scalpel can do.
For starters when I look at the addition of Ben McLemore I see one expendable guard we have is Marcus Thorton. I would try to formulate a package around him to obtain a SF.
Thorton and 2 future 2nd rounders for Wilson Chandler seems to be a good deal for both teams.
Let JJ and Toney D walk.
Resign Cole Aldrich Tyreke Evans
Sign Fransico Garcia
Roster
Cousins/Aldrich
PP/JT/Hayes
Wilson/Salmons
Bmac/Jimmer/Cisco
Evans/IT/Ray
Small minor moves to release the team of log jams and would be able to play hard and goes with the mantle Vivek and Malone said about success not being measured by W's and L's but player development and establishing a system.

Don't make too much sense here on this board. You might sound crazy

I agree 100% with what you have here.

Re: Our Rotation
To solidify our rotation I really hope Tyreke resigns with us and the coaching staff decides to run him as our PG. I can definitely see him wanting to be a past first PG.
Making a trade for Wilson Chandler would be great for our starting rotation. We just need a true starting SF.

Re: Our Rotation
Vasquez/Thomas/McCallum
Thornton/McLemore/Jimmer
Salmons/Outlaw
Patterson/JT
Cousins/Hayes
How many wins does this current roster get? I'd say at least 30+ considering they got 28 last year and look like a better team now. If Malone can make this team better defensively, which shouldn't be too hard since they were ranked 30th last year, they should also get more wins.

First, I just saw you joined RealGM on my birthday haha.
But now it's:
Vasquez/Thomas/McCallum
Thornton/McLemore/Jimmer
Salmons/Outlaw
Patterson/Laundry/Hayes
Cousins/JT/Hayes
I think Hayes or JT will get moved along with Jimmer and/or Thornton. I'd rather it be Jimmer, but I'm not sure what we can get for that combo. Might need Thornton for trading purposes. If we can move some combination of that for someone like Granger or Deng we'd be solid next year. Also, Jimmer might not be so bad next to a 6'6" Vasquez who will be the primary ball handler and defend the SG. Although defense is always an issue. But this would look more like
Vasquez/Thomas/McCallum
McLemore/Jimmer
Deng or Granger/Outlaw
Patterson/Laundry
Cousins/JT

Re: Our Rotation
I'd still do that even now. We can't trade our first, but we could probably swing Jimmer somewhere for a later first. Probably the one Utah just got from GSW.
