Re: What will the Grizzlies look like next season?
I am not quite sure Carlos Delfino would be an upgrade over what is currently on the roster other than the higher percentage from 3pt range, granted that is what we are currently lacking but defensively he is not what we currently have so it would almost be a wash and if that is the case how many minutes would he actually play.
It is for that reason I advocate a difference maker who will be on the court for at least 30 minutes a game. All the previous forwards mentioned in my prior post can play either the small or power forward position which would give us even more options when teams elect to go small, because it is an utter disaster to watch ZBO have to guard a shooting guard. Iman Shumpert torched us in New York, leaving us to play either Zach or Marc but not both. The league is going toward smaller lineups and not away from that trend. We need a little more versatility that those individuals could provide.

Agree we need more versatility, but need another 3 point shooter and options are shrinking. I would be fine with a SF or SG. Quincy/Prince give us some versatility with Prince can play 4 at times or even point forward and QPon can play 2 and 3.
Here is basically what is left on the market
Dorrell Wright/Delfino/Francisco Garcia/Omari Casspi/Anthony Marrow/Roger Mason Jr./Tony Douglas/Brandon Rush (If he doesn't stick with Jazz and knee is fine)
Longer shots
Wayne Ellington/Austin Daye/Nick Young/Alan Anderson/Randy Foye(Like Him)
Longest Shot
Jarrett Jack/Chauncey Billups/Antawn Jamison/Mo Williams
1% Shot
Monte Ellis

Dorrell Wright, and Franciso Garcia are off the board.
Can any of the remaining cats play minutes ahead of Quincy and Bayless?

Have to remember the more options the better chance of having more shooters better chance of finding a guy that is hot.
Bayless is very streaky.

What the Grizz haven't address is a need for a player who can create their own shot in the clutch and can draw fouls slashin to the post. That is an issue worth looking into.

I wouldn't count too much on Turkoglu coming to Memphis, because if my memory serves correctly Mrs. Turkoglu has the hammer and she balked at going to Portland when her husband agreed to a free agent deal, and they ended up in Toronto, so either a team like Miami, New York, or LA Clippers comes a calling or he will head to Europe.
Would love to see a sign and trade scenario with Minnesota for AK47 for Prince since they don't have a starting SF
or likewise with Denver for Corey Brewer.
I also think OKC might be okay with Jeryd Bayless for Perry Jones III and Lamb/or recent 2013 rookie .

Good player, but not a good shooter.

Seems like we're going to pretty much be the exact same team we were last season..

Re: What will the Grizzlies look like next season?
I'm kind of okay with standing pat for now. We have until february to make another move, and let's face it, bringing in a shooter who's mediocre at everything else (all we were likely to get for the 4-5 mil we had under the tax line) won't make much of a difference.
I think we can win enough games early on, and it'll give us a chance to see what guys like Wroten, Franklin, Leuer, and Ed Davis can do. I think someone may get desperate enough to come calling with a decent offer for Z-bo, and we can get our shooter/scorer that way.

Yeah I was convinced that Zbo would be gone by now. Don't get me wrong I'm glad he's still here, but he's obviously our biggest trading chip considering Gasol and Conley are both off the table.
I am looking forward to seeing more development go into Davis though. I love what Hollins did with our team but I think it was a mistake to use Davis as sparingly as he did...

Agreed. I also think the same of Wroten. After Q went down with injury, Wroten should have been playing 10 mpg with Bayless and Ellington playing exclusively at the wing. It was silly to just go 9 man rotation (Darrell Arthur playing SF was one of the ugliest things I've ever seen).
Wroten's ceiling is high but he needs lots of on-court action (IMO) if he's ever going to reach it.

Interesting name, Kostas Papanikolaou. Guy wants to play in the NBA, is an above average 3-point shooter and good defender for his size at 6'9"

Re: What will the Grizzlies look like next season?
I think it's pretty clear now that Memphis is looking to unload Prince, which may be difficult but shouldn't be impossible, and sign Mike Miller. It also looks like the 4th guard spot is Nick Calathes' to lose.
PG Conley / Calathes / Wroten
SG Allen / Bayless / Franklin
SF Pondexter / Miller / Greene
PF Randolph / Davis / Leuer / Cooley
C Gasol / Koufos
^^that's appears to be their desired roster.
Cooley has had a nice summer league and could unseat Leuer as the emergency big / human victory cigar. Otherwise he'll probably spend most of the season in the D-league or inactive. But he will get a long look because of his unique skill set (stretch 4 who can bang inside). Franklin seems destined for the D-League.

+ Josh Akognon.
I still hope that Austine Daye can bulk up (and defend) and sign minimum contract with Memphis. Or Sam Young can return

Really have no interest in Sam Young. He's the poor man's Tony Allen and we don't need him.

Yes, please don't bring Sam Young back.
He's even worse than he was when he had him the first time around... why would we want him again?
