The money means more than a paycheck. It's about respect - to lebron and to the league. It would be disrespectful to pay lebron less than 8 figures

And legacy means more than anything...
No one is asking lebron to take the vet min lol. But something in the area of 14-16mil per season says that he is elite talent, and willing to sacrifice.

We'll let lebron worry about his own legacy.
And yeah, 14-16 million is a reasonable sacrifice and I wouldn't be surprised if he agreed to that kind of pay again

Re: Official Off-Season Trade/Rumor Thread
LeBron doesn't need money from an economical standpoint and neither do Wade or Bosh. Pay LeBron around 17 mil a year and Wade and Bosh 15 each respectively so LeBron's ego doesn't get hurt if that's what some may fear. Even if they were to take those paycuts though, it would only help Micky to save luxury tax money if Miller, UD and Joel all opt back in (and they will) while we'll probably have to extend Chalmers' contract unless we run with Cole as our starter. Since Arison would save luxury tax money, we could try and flip those large expiring contracts from Miller and Joel to find a free agent who will sign with us, but that'll be extremely hard to accomplish, especially since not too many teams will be willing to help us out.
Free Agency wise, we won't be able to make big moves going forward, which is most likely why we're starting to look for young, decent role player talent now.

Re: Official Off-Season Trade/Rumor Thread
Lmao at asking lebron to sacrifice money wise. Sure does he need the extra millions? probably not, but in terms of production its not lebron that should be taking a paycut, it should be wade and bosh. Whether bron wants to be better than jordan has nothing to do with it. Wade has been crazily inconsistent, and bosh continues to struggle at times while scoring 0 points in game 7, which to me is still inexcusable for such a talented scorer like him.
Ive been a heat fan for a long time, well before 2010. But it is amazing to me how ungrateful heat fans are to lebron james. Sure, he didnt win it until he came here, but he legit just won us two titles. This franchise had one before. And he just carried us to two titles in 3 years. And we're sitting here asking him to take a paycut while paying bosh and wade the same amount of money? that is disgraceful, and will be a good way to push lebron out the door.
Fact is, the heat probably need lebron more than lebron needs us. He can still win titles elsewhere. He leaves Miami, we have an injured wades thats regressing, Bosh who is just as wildly inconsistent. And our title window has closed. So before asking Lebron to take a paycut, remember what hes done for this franchise in the short time that hes been here
Point is, after this year. We're going to reload. Im not expecting wade to take a paycut, hes earned the right in this franchise to be making the money that he is. No problem about it. But if Bosh doesnt opt out and take a paycut, trade him. Simple as that, if hes not willing to do it. Trade him. Hes not worth 20 mil dollar a year. And we cant continue to pay all 3 of them that kind of money and still contend. I hope lebron resigns for around the same amount, 20 mil. We cant rly afford to pay him that much more either.

This is all moot. We're offering LeBron the max. He'll either tell us to save some of it for supporting cast or he'll accept. We're not watching LeBron walk away because we didn't want to max out the best player on the planet.

Re: Official Off-Season Trade/Rumor Thread
I am not in agreement with continuously asking players to take pay cuts...no one on these boards can make ANY financial decision for ANY basketball player, let alone LBJ....let this go or go and take a pay cut from your occupation before you make such a suggestion...
Sometimes people go too far with their recommendations
It is my hope that we can give him what he wants to stay beyond 2014

@ESPNSteinLine: ESPN sources says Mavs remain in pursuit of Bynum but also have Bucks free agent Samuel Dalembert as prime target if Bynum pursuit fizzles
Yep, Mavs gonna just throw too much money for us at Dalembert if Bynum goes elsewhere.

Those asking about Artest or MWP or whatever he calls himself, I can assure u the Heat have no interest in this version of him.

Bynum to Cavs. So will Oden finally decide on Miami?

hope that kyrie and bynum have solid careers but if they can be sidelined this year with injuries that would be great.

I'm not wishing injury for any player, maybe they will fight each other during a game or something like this

ira
not the worst idea.
So if Mike Miller is amnestied, just-released Rip Hamilton for Heat (at worst he could torment Wade during practices)?
not the worst idea.

He's washed up. No thanks
And besides, I'll always remember him as a member of that Pistons team. I considered them a rival

If Mike Miller is amnestied, I would think you let James Jones take his spot in the rotation and use the open roster spot on a young guy like Ennis. Then use Howard's open roster spot on another young guy, like Oden.

Re: Official Off-Season Trade/Rumor Thread
I think Sammy D goes to Dallas, they have a lot more money then us after the Cavs signed Bynum, I still want a starting center but in my opinion the only one that can start is Sammy so Bosh is going to have another bad season because he is playing the 5.

Re: Official Off-Season Trade/Rumor Thread
sammy d will go to mavs if they are in serious pursuit. hell get a ridiculous offer from cuban just to spite us. teams that were most interested in oden are sas, cleveland and miami.
cleveland getting bynum eliminates oden from contention IMO. i think duncan can be a good mentor for oden but miami is also an ideal fit for him here. if we were patient with eddy curry you better believe well be patient with oden.
miller as sad as it is has to be amnestied. unless arison is just so baller like that and decides to keep him and offload him as an expiring in 14-15.
if we do go the amnesty route though look for varnado and ennis to make the cut with oden coming in for howard
we won a chip with bosh at the C with a franchise record in wins. people are acting like this team is broken. an addition of oden to play spot minutes (against the bigs like lopez, hibbert, duncan) will be great for us
chalmers/cole
wade/allen
james/battier/ennis/jones
haslem/varnado/lewis
bosh/birdman/oden/anthony
im more than fine with this
