Teague's numbers are now known.

Restricted free agent guard Jeff Teague plans to sign a four-year, $32 million-plus offer sheet with Milwaukee, league sources tell Y!

I think we'll match.

I dont think we will. We will not push hard for Jennings or Ellis (who sounds like he is thinking elsewhere).

Teague sounds disgruntled, not sure he wants to be here anymore.

When has that ever mattered to a front office?

If there were ever any SNT ideas concerning him, we'll find out in the next 3 days. Saying he'll sign "soon" is like a shot across the bow.

Teague has signed offer sheet.

Chicken is now in effect.

Do you really want to sign teague to 8 million a year ? If we sign him he cannot be traded for 3 months and after that, we need his permission.

You are effectively paying him for this season minimum.

May not be a bad thing, just not sure what other options ferry has

Love him. But if we are smart we are heading into full-on rebuild/tank mode, so not so sure we match.

What's important is that we can match Teague offer after signing a new player like Kirilenko. But we only have three days now to sign him or other F.A. before matching Teague, in order to go over the cap with Teague.

Does this mean no more sign and trade with Jennings? Why not just sign Jennings striaght up now, maybe for even a cheaper contract and see who else bids for him.

If the Hawks do get a down grade of PG in Jennings, then i'm really loving this tank team of Millsap and Jennings on short term contracts :D

Jennings is demanding $12 mil a year so that's not gonna happen

What team at this point has $12 million left in cap?

you haven't thought this out again. Jennings can "demand" all he wants. What team has $12 million, and what teams need a PG this late in free agency ( especially Jennings as PG) ?

But of course we'll match, this is a reasonable $8 mil per year contract, something that many of us expected him to get. Now if the Bucks had offered him $10-12 mil per year that's a different story but we can't just let our starting point just leave because we don't wanna match a reasonable offer. If nothing else we can use Jeff as a nice trade chip somewhere down the road.

If nothing else he'll probably opt into his QO and test the market next year a UFA. He's too stubborn to sign a contract which pays him less than $8 mil

It never feels right when a team let's a RFA player find his deal out there and there's all sorts of trade talks, then only turn around and match whatever offer they are given. It seems cheap, but it's business. We've seen it twice with Josh, and perhaps now with Teague. However, I like Teague a lot and would love to have him back at $8 mil per yr. I hope we do match because we will be a solid team for it.

I also would love to stick MIL with figuring out what to do with their trash. Drew's a good coach and doesn't deserve it, but I don't want to make anything easier for an Eastern rival.

So, if I'm not mistaken, now the SnT option is out. Teague signing the offer sheet cancels that. We can let him go and try to sign Ellis to a deal that works for us better (shorter term). That's if Ferry isn't interested in having Teague back.

I don't think 8M in unreasonable for teague, especially when you have players like Jennings demanding 12M a year.

Ferry has an interesting decision.

^ Unless Schroeder's going to be ready in 1-2 years, yes, it is a very easy match.

I have the feeling Ferry really doesn't think Teague can be a great player in this league. He drafted a PG who's got tons of potential and hasn't shown much desire in retaining him. If we are in tank mode, we have to let him go, even at this very reasonable contract. 8M for a starting PG in the NBA is a bargain.
GO HAWKS.

Do we have to match the $8 million per year AND the 4 years or can we pay $8 million for say 2 years?

You have to match what they paid.

I think they will match and should match. 8 per is a great deal for Teague, you would have him locked in for the next few years and if Schroder shows the potential to be a starter in the league, you can always move him as his contract is reasonable.
