Going on Friday to the Summer League to the 2 PM session (7th place vs. 8th place). Should be fun!

Those OKC execs know how to spot a good thing. If only we could tap into that in some way. You know, hire one of their up and coming assistants? 8-)

It is just summer league but good god I couldn't deal with chucking with those %'s
I think Oladipo RIGHT NOW is already a better PG than MCW ;)

Give the kid credit for coming into today 7 of 36 and STILL jacking up 16 shots. Although to be fair it was his lowest shot total of the 3 games. I'm so glad Henny is our GM and not RealGM.... people wanting Burke and MCW (not many admittedly). The LV SL will be fun to see McLemore (admittedly my guy, although I'm happy with Oladipo) and McCullom.

you know what man, actually watching this made me think more about the Arenas comparison someone made previously. Of course Arenas is the better shooter and ball-handler of the two but as i watch this i see some similarities. The way they dribble the ball is kind of similar, Of course the swagger is there as well, I even think their form is kind of similar. Might be blasphemy of me to say but if he can improve his already solid ball-handling even more and become more consistent with that jumper you might be looking at a lower scoring version of Gilbert but With defense and Elite Athleticism.

Gil was one of my favorite players a while back when he was in form that is, but to me he was never a true point. Sure he could dole it out, i believe his highest APG for a season where he played an actual full season was 6 a game or so. Gil wasn't great with the turnovers either i believe for like 6 straight seasons he averaged over 3 a game with a few season 4 TO. That being said Oladipo still has a ways to go and it's still not clear whether this experiment at PG is something that's going to be a mainstay or just a tactic to improve and develop. I mean from what i see and hear from interviews it seems like this isn't something that's going to go away after Summer League ends.

Again not saying he's going to be Gilbert but maybe he can be developed into that kind of a player but with his skills more skewed to the defensive side as opposed to the offensive side for Gilbert. Either way i'm excited to see how Dipo develops whether he's at the PG or the SG slot i feel we can't lose either way

Very nice stuff. I'd like to see him finish some of those drives and shots for and 1s but that will come in time

Other than their size, combo-guard ability, and kinda the way they look handling the ball, I don't see the Arenas comparison at all. Are we forgetting that Arenas had out-the-gym range off the dribble and one year shot 8 3's a game lol. I guess this is what bugs me about player comparisons at time, obviously none are perfect, but a Gilbert Arenas with less scoring, defense, and elite athleticism isn't Gilbert Arenas.. thats a completely different player.

I'm definitely feeling the Wade/Westbrook comparisons a bit more than Arenas

He shot sub-40% in college, what do you expect? I never get the infatuation with him. It's only summer league though, he could still prove me wrong.

Well, technically in my post i never actually said he was Arenas just i thought they were similar. I think the swagger, the way they handle the ball and the form on their shots are similar. Now all the other stuff was just me spitballing because i was coming at it from the angle if we were trying to develop him as a Point Guard. The Westbrook comparison is fine too but like i said it's just how i see it, no right or wrong just yet because the story is still on-going, long way to go. One thing i'll say though is neither Westbrook or Gil has the intensity /motor defensively Dipo has, so i guess he has them in one area lol

I'm sure if Oladipo didn't care about things like efficiency and shot selection he could shoot 8 threes a game in a season too.

I've been trying to figure your point out but I can't lol, what is it? If its in reference to my post, then I agree thats just another thing that makes Arenas and Oladipo different

It's that we shouldn't sell Oladipo so short by comparing him to Gilbert, someone whose only asset was high volume chucking and pretty much nothing else.

We need a clean W in all quarters and the game to have some hope for top 4 finish.
