MJ would only have to pay the difference between our contract and his new one. Meaning $5M of his $9M contract would be paid off, and we'd only owe him $4M.

Yeah I don't either, the reason Andray Blatche keeps signing minimum deals is because the Wizards owe him his money. The more he signs for, the less his former team pays. There's no difference to him, whether he's signing a minimum contract vs. an $8M contract. He still gets his money.

They are over-paying him, but his skillset is definitely worth 11 million. Just watch, one of that young talented Kings bunch will develop into a player who was meaningful NBA moments. Not saying it's necessarily Evans, but it's worth the gamble, imo. The Pelicans are turning into a serious team.

My point is that is too much to pay him to come off of the bench, they already have Jrue Holiday and Eric Gordon.

I have four points I want to make then:

His destiny might just be being the third guard/first player off the bench who averages 15 points in 30 minutes for a playoffs team. Sometimes it's worth to overpay those guys, since they might benefit your team just as much as any starter (per example, Vinnie Johnson, Jason Terry).

It's only July the 4th. It's a bit too early to look at each team's rotations, there are still possible trades ahead. The Pelicans already have Vasquez behind Holiday, so it seems very plausible that they will shake up their back-court with a move or two. Two weeks from now it might be Tyreke's starting position with Gordon gone. (Don't forget about Rivers either.)

Moreover, we don't even know his real position yet. He might be a small three for all we know (wouldn't that be a scary line-up to defend...) Sac Town certainly didn't find out what position fits him best.

Last off, are we even sure Gordon can play a full NBA season?

Kemba still has two years to improve. He could very well be an all-star by that time. Curry and Holiday both got their contracts before they broke out. If Curry and Holiday didn't get extended last summer, I think both would be getting offered max deals. Same could happen with Kemba. We need to extend him next summer before he hits the open market in 2015.

With Biz, if he doesn't break out next season (which is very possible given we have three bigs that deserve playing time over him), if we can extend him for cheap, then we should do it. Unless Biz has a Larry Sanders-like break out season, Biz doesn't have a lot of value around the league.

Yes, Emeka Okafor was the 1st rookie ever extended by the Charlotte Bobcats franchise & the last (so far). It remains to be seen if Kemba lasts until his extension past his rookie contract in a Bobcats/Hornets uniform. I'm not saying that he won't or shouldn't, but you never know what trade proposal may be thrown in Cho's direction within the next year or two

He's very replaceable. Would've prefered Scott Machado or Kyck Kabongo anyway. If all else fails, Pargo was pretty good.
