Here's a video of him with his AAU team. The competition definitely looks better, but the guy is still really dominating. I was watching some videos of Bosh his senior year...and Randle is head and shoulders above him in a lot of aspects at the same age. Randle is shorter, but has a better overall frame and there is still room for him to grow.

Tanking is so stupid. Thank god its not going to happen with us. I can't believe people actually want to sit through another season like that.

Lowry - Considering how stacked the PG spot is he is 10-15 and much closer to 15 then 10.

DeRozan - At very best becomes a top 10 scorer in the NBA because he does not have any other skills that stand out.

Gay - Redundant with DeRozan on the team He is what he is at this point and contract aside is in the class of the Iggy/Granger/Deng

Amir - Best suited as a 3rd man off the bench for a solid team.

JV - Very young and will need 2-3 years before he truly comes into his own hopefully on the level of a M. Gasol/ Noah/Hibbert

Please explain to me why we should try to be a 7th - 11th seed when the two guys in their primes are a solid starter a guy a notch below a true All-Star player? Amir is a bench player and a very good one at that but that is what he is. DeRozan is a one trick pony who needs his one trick to become elite and I will not count him out that he can't do it but he is a scorer and thats it. JV is a pup and way to young to expect huge strides from this year and maybe next. This team needs to tank! Look at a team like the Jazz who already have Kanter/Favors/Hayward/Burke/Burks on their team and they are tanking! They already have way more promising young talent and will add another.

Tanking may not make these guys any better- even with Wiggins which is not a sure thing with the worst record. The others, puhlease wishful thinking to posit 6 franchise altering picks.

It is not the Wiggins draft though! There are a bunch of guys with huge potential! Even if they try to win with the roster they have the East has clearly better teams in the Heat, Bulls, Pacers, Nets & Knicks that would crush them in 4 or 5 games in the first round. It makes no sense whatsoever to be first round fodder. They can't even be the Johnson/Smith/Horford Hawks with this sorry team. The lack of talent is quite clear.

We draft
We can't hold onto stars
They bolt as soon as the rookie contract is done.
We cannot build through the draft.

Seriously, I have no idea why Masai's moves this offseason are being construed as consistent with not tanking. He got picks and scrub + buyout/trade candidate for Bargnani. He signed short term deals for low $, with team options. He's not going to come out and say "yah, we're tanking." For one, the league wouldn't like it; and, for another, it would put him in a position of weakness if he were actually looking to fire sale.

Lieweke said this team is championship or bust going forward, so why would he hire someone who doesn't share that vision?

So your telling me you would rather sit threw a 35 win season where the team will miss the playoffs and have a 10th pick then a 25 win season and the team have a 5th pick? The teams sucks! Top 6 is a lock with Heat, Bulls, Pacers, Nets, Knicks. Then you have the Cavs, Pistons, Wizards, Bucks, Raptors fighting it out for 2 spots. Then to lose in 4 or 5 games when they make it. Or we could tank and get a potential talent that is just as good as Val or better. Do you really think this team can even compete in the playoffs?

I was thinking we needed a thread like this, but that there would be too many tank trolls. Anyway winning is the only way to go. I believe that instead of trying to win by trying to lose we should actually try to win... crazy idea I know.

Damon Stoudamire - wanted to leave
Vince Carter (through trade) - wanted to leave
Tracy Mcgrady - wanted to leave
Chris Bosh - left

Andrea Bargnani - wanted to stay

Any other good player we had - we traded.

...what would be the result if we drafted another good player?

It is when you don't have the talent to win.

Good argument, rather then have an amazing player for 4 years most likely the first 7 years super cheap, we should keep our overpaid mediocre 9th seed team.

Can you explain to me how this team wins more then 35 games with the talent it has? If we had some All-Star talent in their primes then of coarse you try to win. The team is going to try to win with a BC core and a new bench. What the **** is the point of that? Keep BC if this is the team you want to put on the floor when a draft that may be the best in over a decade is on the horizon.

Even Lebron had to leave his team to win a championship.

1) Doubtful that he had to leave, he decided it would be easier, imo would have eventually won in Cleveland anyway.

2) I would take the 2003-2010 lebron years over any raptors years, ever.

Hey, can someone please post a thread on the general board asking outsider opinions (possibly with a poll) for what direction raptors should take.

Stay as is, we are competitive and will push for a playoff seed this year and worry about resigning lowry and gay and adding pieces in the future around the core.

vs

Trade any pieces of our core other then JV for solid young prospects, expiring contracts, draft picks, play who we have left over and develop the young kids, and work for the 2014 draft and build after that.

not sure if its outside the GB rules, I cannot post on the GB and would love to see outsiders opinions on this.

Never said that.
Just for us, it has never worked before. It just seems to get ripped apart when we are finally getting things together. Once a player is in his prime...he leaves.
