Early in Rose's career, he was one of the worst defenders in the league. Every pick and roll thrown at him was like the first. He improved at that but he never got to the point where he was good at it. He doesn't anticipate well. Rose's isolation defense improved from bad to good. Off ball? Meh.

Overall, I would not say that Rose has ever been more than above average at defense. Kirk is still better than him.

In the situation where you have a fast PG running an isolation play, I would take Rose every time though.

Just my opinion.

......

As far as Nate goes? IMO, its going to be Rose / Butler for most of the time. I do think you could see lineups like:
Rose / Nate
Kirk / Nate
Kirk / Butler

If you read into Thibs comments, he doesn't really like using Nate as a PG. He uses him for what he is, a SG. The problem is his size. You have to play him with a guy who can run the offense AND guard opposing 2's. Fortunately, the Bulls have two of them.

Nate just retweeted an article about how the NBA hates him. It feels like there's a good chance we're going to get him back for cheap.

It seems NBA general managers have been listening to too much Randy Newman recently. If "short people got no reason to live," then they certainly got no reason to play in the NBA.

As this offseason has shown, roster management is a lesson in contrasting styles. Some teams have found success going the Billy Beane route, Daryl Morey in Houston being the most obvious and current example while others have seen their analytic strategies develop more slowly.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, the Nets' Billy King throws millions of dollars at every problem he sees, a largely ineffective, quintessential New York (though others are guilty as well) strategy.

The one thing everyone seems to agree on, is they don't want Nate Robinson. The 5'8 (on a good day), coiled ball of energy is apparently only worth a minimum deal, the same contract usually reserved for geriatric veterans looking to win a ring while waiving a towel from the bench.
While Robinson is still best known for winning the dunk contest three times and his energetic, slightly erratic personality, he has turned into a very solid point guard.

Keep in mind, this is the same Robinson who scored 13 points a game and averaged a career high in assists and three-point shooting percentage this past year. The same Robinson who helped carry a Bulls team, whose front office apparently decided to take a vacation once they realized Derrick Rose wasn't coming back, through the first round of the playoffs. The same Robinson who scored a "Like Mike"-esque 23 points in the fourth quarter of a playoff game, went toe-to-toe with LeBron James for an entire series, and played a Game Six while intermittently throwing up on the bench.

As free agency dwindles down, it's beginning to feel a little bit like the cards are stacked against 'Lil Nate.

Good lord, did he actually retweet that? It's been retweeted all over the place, but I didn't realize that one of the sources was N8 himself. Poor guy.

That said, you all know that I hope we get him back.

Was wondering if he read that....him tweeting it makes me almost 100% confident he reads this site at least once in a while. If he can read huffington post, for damn sure he has to read up on RealGM once in a while.

We love you NATE.

Poor Nate.. He really wishs he is 6'3 instead 5'9. It is shame Corey Brewer can get 3/15 while Nate can't. Oh well..

I feel so bad for Nate. I'd love it if he got no offers and he ended up coming back to the Bulls but at the same time I'm hoping he gets paid because he deserves much more than what we can give him.

It's like being with this cool chick who, for reasons out of either of your control, you can't be with her anymore and for some other reason you can't be the man she truly deserves but at the same time you know all the other guys out there won't really appreciate her and are no good for her either and you want better for her.

Me and these metaphors, haha...

I also feel bad or wishing that no team snags him with a good offer.

Yeah nate we love you. It's like people can't believe what they see with you so they pretend they didn't.

Thanks for sparking us with energy so many times especially tackling lance Stephenson which I saw in person. You're a true entertainer in an entertainment business. Thanks! Come back to the Bulls where we love you and you can win.

did anyone figure out which teams can actually sign nate for significantly more than us (and that would give nate enough incentive to go elsewhere)?

I get confused all the time with people on twitter retweeting stuff. It's hard to tell who is saying what. Twitter really needs to find a way to make it more obvious.

Rip had two other tweets before this one. One was thanking the Bulls and the fans and the other was saying that he thought this team would have accomplished something special if it wasn't plagued by injuries. It felt like to me that he was retweeting this one specifically because he shared similar sentiments.
