Andrea Bargnani has to show in THIS season all his potential. I think and I'm sure that it's umbelievable. He played all his seasons totally out of role, being asked to be the focal point on offence, being the last team's anchor on defence. They asked him to bulk up a lot. He did, but he is not Akeem, Shaq or Howard. On offence he has unique skills, but he must play near a real Center and not being the 1st option. Knicks are the best fit for Il Mago's skills having Melo and Chandler and Andrea is perfect for NY to complement them, much more than Stat. Woodson said that he wiil put Andrea in the right situation to play and show his talent. Andrea now, everything is up to you.

Forza Mago!

I think he'll help more then people realize if Chandler steps back up as a defensive center, Bargs will help spread the floor. not sure of his passing skills, but he could create alot more slashing oppurtunities for the likes of smith and shumpert too, even Amare. Also creates more room for Melo to Iso where he likes to be. I think its going to improve our offense a great deal. On the defensive end, thats another story. We'll just have to wait and see how that develops.

We could use a 7 foot Tim Thomas.

Bargs' stats compared to TT at the same age are pretty identical.

To put em on an equal footing their per 36 numbers through age 27:

Bargs:
18.0 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 1.5 apg, 0.5 spg, 1.0 bpg, 44% FG%, 36% 3P%, 83% FT%, 54% TS%, 14.3 PER

TT :
16.3 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.1 spg, 0.5 bpg, 44% FG%, 37% 3P%, 77% FT%, 54% TS%, 14.5 PER

This is what I mean by you should compare Bargs to SFs more than PFs. His stats are also pretty much the same as Gallo's, Kukoc's, and Hedo's minus the assists. Bargs is just a one of a kind player it seems but not exactly in a good way.

Great comparison. And I personally love it. This team did need a Hedo/Kukoc/Gallo/Thomas type. I don't think small ball is a bad idea. I do think small ball with three guards is a bad idea. Bargs allows us to play small ball without being too small.

Yeah a finesse shotmaker who can stretch definitely fits the bill.

this has all the makings of a gallo situation. when they start complaining that melo isn't sharing the ball with bargs enough they're gonna get me involved.

Frank Isola ‏@FisolaNYDN 50s

Yes, BOTP Bargnani and Gallinari are the same. They are both Italian and in the NBA. So by that logic, LeBron and Earl Barron are similar

Frank Isola ‏@FisolaNYDN 2m

Berman of the Post told Andrea that he & Gallinari are similar. So get ready for BOTP to start using that played out Italian Stallion line.

It's a perfect definition. Andrea never could play in this way and in a very good team. You do not know how many times I saw Andrea receiving the ball in the last 3 seconds, watched by 2 defenders. He had to create a shot but so often in the worst situation. In NY it won't happen anymore and his contibution'll be much more effective.

Bargnani said he will "focus a lot" on defense and rebounding. "I got to get better in many aspects of the game," he said.

saying all the right things. personally i'd work on your jump shot. get that back up to a decent percentage.

Let me seemingly contradict myself by conceding that offensive talent is overrated. It really is. But it's not nothing. And height and talent ... it's something worth noting.

add to that list...

Hakeem
Yao
Wilt
Ewing
David Robinson
Sampson

I'd add TD, KG and Rasheed Wallace as well if you can consider them 7 footers and agree 3 point shooting is overrated for a 7 footer and I put all these guys well ahead of bargnani.

Glen Grunwald says he thinks Bargnani and Stoudemire can share the floor together and will cause matchup problems for opponents. #Knicks

I still think one of Bargs/Stat will start but this supports your prediction.

Yeah, Grunwald is right. This will cause matchup problems for opponents...

Bargnani and Stoudemire will be matched up against opponents who will have no problem against them. :x
