@ESPNSteinLine
Hearing: Even before they passed on Andrew Bynum, I'm told Mavs formally reached out to Greg Oden camp this week to formally join Oden race

We're ****, Mavs going after him, and they got tons of money to throw at him.

Don't think for a second the Mavs would toss big money at Oden; Cuban isn't as dumb as he used to be. If we wanted Oden, we would have Oden. His agent has been putting releases out there about his interest in joining the Heat since last summer. Riley ain't buying it, and with a tax bill as high as ours, he's going to cost double no matter what we pay him.

i dont agree with that, Riley didnt work him out for no reason. He also said in his press conference that we're looking into it. I dont doubt that we're interested. I also disagree that if we want him, we'll get him. I dont care how injured hes been. the center market is dry. Teams will be willing to take a risk. A team like the mavs, who has struck out on dwight, AND bynum might be willing to give him money, maybe not ALOT but more than the min. Which is what i assume we're offering. Its going to cost us double, but really? if we sign him to the min, thats 1.7 mil. Not that much, double or not.

I'm not too high on Clarke. I'd rather take a chance on oden than keep Clarke.

The Mavs didn't even want to match the deal the Cavs gave Andrew Bynum when the Cavs only guaranteed 6 million. I can't imagine the Mavs breaking the bank for Oden who's probably a bigger question mark than Bynum.

I can't be the only one thinking that if we have had contact with Oden than he's know what we're willing to offer him for quite a while now, and seeing as he hasn't signed with us already that makes me think he's playing the field for more cash lucrative contracts. If that's the case Miami have no chance against a couple of other teams namely Dallas.

I think you're wrong.

And I'd think that Dallas would be seen as way below us on where he wants to be.

It seems to me we would have to use the mini MLE to get him. And he can wait to see if a desperate team like the Mavs are willing to exceed it, but that would come with higher expectations, which he knows he has never met. I do not blame the guy, having only made his rookie contract without any true confidence like Bynum has that he can come back and get paid. But for us, worse case is we get him, amnesty Joel, pay the same $33M tax and junk him in a year if he washes out. BEst case, however, is he does work out, we have a team option at mimi mle next year and he is part of our reload initiative to keep Lebron.
I'm like Global Warming, you can't ignore me.

mini mle would be 3mil salary, and cost us an extra 10mil in lux tax.

W/the caveat that things change (i.e., people lie): hearing Greg Oden will take his time to decide where he's going--maybe into August.

It makes sense for Oden to play with us. The expectations are not THAT high, he wouldn't have to worry about playing too many minutes, he'll be a part of the main favorite of a championship that needs someone like him. Only problem is obviously money, but I don't see many teams offering a much bigger contract to him than we do. We'll see.

Not sure what to make of this. it could be interpreted as a good sign, bad sign, or nothing at all.

If it's just money he's after, not sure why he'd want to wait till August.

Could have something to do with his body..maybe he's worried about doing a physical right now, Or Maybe he has some silent understanding with Riley..who knows.
