in small amounts. most of josh smiths points come from the inside which says he isnt a good Jump Shooter so they would need a stretch 4 or 5(monroe can play either) so they can allow him the inside.

thats like saying Dwight can play PF still cuz thats what he did when he was younger.

Smith is 27, its not like he is 35. When he was younger he was still a poor outside shooter and he was playing SF so I don't know why people say he can't play it now. Atlanta has been playing small ball for years, they have Horford playing center and he is not quite suited for it, which is why they had Smith at PF.

he was definitely given flack....mainly because of his unwarranted threes. He's capable of defending the 3 spot. If he did started....their front court will punish others with their size and athleticism. But yeah....he was being played at pf moreso out of necessity.

Yeah....his pick up was a definite head scratcher.

he better quit because this might be his last season. lol He's scared of planes....but not baby mama drama....or aids.[/quote]
He's not scared of planes he is just dramatic. Everyone knows he took flights when he was at Iowa State. He claims it was because they created an environment where he felt like people had his best interests in mind, but it is more like his team and coaches treated him like a god so he was happy. If Philly is happy to let him play home games only, I will be more than happy for them.

man, he's not a baby; he's motivated. If your job hired someone new in your same position, what would you do: complain and cry or work hard to show the boss & team that you deserve the top spot?

It makes for better competition amongst the team.

Magic officials have no plans to make any significant free-agent signings in the months ahead, even with the cap room that would be created by waiving Turkoglu and Harrington. The team wants to allocate as much playing time as possible to its young players and wants to position itself to win a high pick in the talent-laden 2014 NBA Draft.

The Magic will not re-sign free-agent point guard Beno Udrih. Team officials don't want to take on any long-term salary commitments.

Also, for those wondering about the implications if Turk and Harrington being bought out or waived, here's your answer.

The Magic currently have 13 players under contract for the upcoming season. When combined with the money the team still owes Quentin Richardson, the team's total payroll is about $58.6 million.

That figure is deceptive, because the salaries of Hedo Turkoglu and Al Harrington are only partially guaranteed. If the team parts ways with them, as expected, the team's salary figure will drop to about $49.0 million.

Normally, that would be a problem, because teams will be required to spend a minimum total of $52.8 million on player salaries in the season ahead.

But the salary floor won't be a problem. Salaries for players waived via the amnesty provision count toward a team's minimum-salary figure, and the $22.4 million salary of amnestied guard Gilbert Arenas will ensure that the Magic are above the floor.

Yea I was gonna say. I know they get paid a lot of money but it still would suck to be the starting SG and then have someone new come in to take your spot away, especially someone young who hasn't played in the NBA yet.

Now if he starts causing issues and drama, then yea there's a problem. But if he's just using it for "fuel" in the gym then more power to him. I'd be upset if he didn't.

Was he competing when he took 0 shots the game Redick moved in starting line-up? Basketball is a team sport, implying that you feel uncomfortable with a new teammate isn't a warm welcome to me. And not sure that's the veteran I'd like coaching the rook.

Good move for Detroit, bringing 2 vets to their young core, it changes from people on this board wanting to trade our vets and have only players with less than 23yrs old

I like Tobias and all, but it's not like he is a great player that we are counting on right now. Hopefully he gets better, but he wasn't really all that great at anything. Hard for me to get too excited about a scorer who shoots 45% as a forward.

Josh can go into the post as a SF and just needs to control his jumper.

Aaron Emofflalo. Dafuq. I really hope he does use it as fuel and get his stock higher, other than that he needs to STFU w the unnecessary emo tweets and just do work.

You mean like LeBron, Carmelo, and Durant did early in their careers?

AA shouldn't be worried as I fully expect us to have victor at pg all season

If it s the case,we won't win many games next year and the tanking lover will be happy

Not trying be as negative as that sounds. Just saying that I don't think Tobias will fall off because it's not like he was playing out of his mind last year.

Go back to Tobes in college, he's shot/scored/rebounded basically the exact same numbers for like 5 years now.

Eh. Just don't get it. I think he was playing pretty damn well for a 2nd year player, forget that he was a 2nd year player who was buried on the bench for a year and a half coming to a new team surrounded by other young players. When I watch him, I see him doing a lot of great things. While I'm not betting on him becoming a Carmelo Anthony, I sure am hoping for it, and really can't come up with many reasons that he can't.
