Bargani has already FAR exceeded what you normally can expect from a 15-30 pick.

Anyone with belief in the magical value of any first rounder spend just 10 mins reviewing any NBA draft of the modern era. You'll be amazed at how many names you'll find of players you never knew existed or forgot existed a LONG time ago.

I'll remind you all of the top half of the same draft Bargnani was selected in.

This is why I always lol at the outrage over Jordan Hill at #8. Wasn't a great pick but he is still in the league at least.

Only argument I have for keeping a late first round pick is if you happen to get lucky and pick up a guy who can play, then that's a guy who you can keep on your roster for four years.

I didn't love giving up the pick, but I can live with it if Bargnani works out these next two seasons.

Even if this trades busts, I still think the risk was worth taking. I've been in and out of this thread, wasn't sure if you were pro bargs or against it.

You can probably name on two hands and maybe one foot, at most, the number of 7-footers in the history of the game as offensively skilled as Bargnani is.

Let me seemingly contradict myself by conceding that offensive talent is overrated. It really is. But it's not nothing. And height and talent ... it's something worth noting.

Don't think that's true. He did need a change of scenery, but he actually liked Canada. Specially considering he was trying to become a Canadian Citizen.

There are plenty of positives on offense. Thats why the Knicks played STAT/Novak together

There are plenty of positives on offense. Thats why the Knicks played STAT/Novak together

They are both going to require doubleteaming on O while they are on the floor together. And on D Bargs can also guard opposing big men

Again you make it sound like fans only hated him.They hated the whole organization.There was no talent,hedo was a disater Bosh left,calderon was very poor defensively.Bargs stayed got overplayed and broke down and got blamed and booed for eveything.I feel sorry for Rudy Gay

If we can play Novak and Stat together then Bargnani and Stat is def an upgrade... Bargnani is not slow like novak and is a good passer and has great lateral movement for a guy his size... If used right there are hardly any big men who can keep up with his 1st step... same goes with Amare but they both need to be healthy. I liked what i saw with Amare and trying to improve his defense, just needs to get better and same goes with Bargs

Usually you can dismiss most of the chatter a player gives to the media after he's acquired by a new team ... or at least be very skeptical of it all.

In this case, I 100% believe that Bargnani is quite delighted to be in New York and highly motivated to make an impact.

I'm not saying I think he'll get it done in a big way, but I think he wants to badly and that -- combined with a very rare combination of size and skill -- is a big part of the battle.

And the guy is 27, not 38, so having a body not able to do what the mind wants it to do -- shouldn't be an issue at all.
