Does Joe D move Singler????

Post#1 » by DetroitDon15 » Thu Jul 11, 2013 2:16 pm

I am starting to wonder what Joe could get for Singler? Does someone think we could nab a late first for him? I think that would be a good hall. Maybe a TPE plus a late first for him. I'm lookin at the depth chart and just see no room.

You know what is weird, I had a crazy dream last night that we traded him to the heat for a first round pick lol.

We obviously need to make a trade. And if we can't make a big one, then I'd be in favor of trading Singler. If we could get a first round pick in this upcoming draft for him I say do it. There's not really any room at SF for him anymore, and Middleton is better, IMO.

I think we could get a late first for Singler or 2 seconds like we got for Delfino

Imo, the guys most likely to be gone next season out are Singler, Jerebko, Stuckey, English, Siva. Then CV and Middleton.

We need absolute snipers on the perimeter

I don't understand the siva trashing. He has 4 turnovers in 3 games with 0 practice time with these guys. Brandon knight would turn it over off his foot more times in 1 game.

I think Mitchell might see a little D-League time but you are right there.

Singler can shoot and hopefully is working on his three... No one views him as anything special best case you get a 2nd for him right now... Better off keeping him and hoping he worked on his game and improves his shooting.

No one is going to view him as anything more than a 15-20 MPG backup wing player.

I guess if we can't possibly move Stuck for anything than maybe it makes sense to move Singler just to open up a spot in the rotation for KCP.

I don't think anyones really trashing him, I really like siva but with the billups signing it will be really hard to keep him on the team this year. The best thing for him may be to play overseas for a couple of years.

Singler could be traded. Mostly because he's the type of guy a lot of winning teams would want, especially because he has two years left on his contract, at around 2 million total.

A team like the Spurs wouldn't blink to take him off Detroit's hands.

Personally, I don't see a need to move him. He's a good locker room presence, always plays the right way and tries his best despite his physical limitation. I think a lot of people prefer Middleton to him because with KM there's more perceived upside, whereas with Singler, he's effectively a known quantity, which isn't as exciting as the unknown.

He could be, but I don't see it as a priority. JJ/English/Kratsov/Stuckey/CV are the guys you look to move first.

All rookie second team and on a cheap 2 year deal. Can give a team a good 10 to 15 minutes. Some team might.

I think Kyle would have late first value/future first value around the league to the play-off teams. He's a good NBA back-up who we asked to do too much last season and he was over-exposed and faded hard given the minutes overload over the final third of the season.

Singler probably has more value that he's being given here - remember he's not playing in the summer league because Detroit management doesn't think he needs it. He also shot 35% from three point land last season, I'm sure he's been working on that all summer as well.

Our SF depth looks like -
Smith|Singler|Datome|Middleton

If Smith is our back-up PF, that means there will be 28 minutes a game at small forward for the bench guys most likely. Singler is very likely the first back-up off the bench and can look to get 18 mpg, leaving Datome and Middleton to battle for the remaining 10.

I'd keep him if the alternative is a dump. He's a below average starter, but would be a good bench guy and he's on a cheap deal.

That's why we should trade him before his value goes down. Will see limited minutes with our current log jam which will only hurt his value.

Datone, Singler and Middleton will be in a serious battle for signficant PT in our rotation. Perhaps the latter two could get minutes at SG, and that might result in KCP battling for PT along with Stuckey and Billups.

We've got a lot of guys - who I think can play serious rotation minutes in this league. Young players who are relatively cheap that other teams would like to have and who will end up buried on our team. It really would be nice to ship out one or two guys, possibly bundled with an expiring contract, to take back some salary and snap up a #1 pick next season.

I'd say if we go with only Knight and Bynum the PG spot (which is likely) then we've got Billups, Stuckey, KCP, Singler, Luigi, Jonas, and Middleton battling it out for all the SG minutes and whatever is available at backup SF minutes.

Certainly will be some people unhappy on the bench. Middleton I think isn't good enough to be an everyday bench player on a playoff team but everyone else will probably feel like they deserve some minutes.
