Bobcats Exploring Sign-And-Trade Scenarios For Gerald Henderson

Jul 11, 2013 2:26 PM EDT

The Charlotte Bobcats are exploring sign-and-trade possibilities for restricted free agent Gerald Henderson.

Henderson’s representatives spoke with the Bobcats on Wednesday to discuss what the team might be prepared to pay him in a new deal.

Henderson scored in double figures in each of the Bobcats’ last 24 games, including 10 games of 20 or more points.

Actually, I was thinking about it yesterday. I think the plan is to bench Jameer and use him as our Nate Robinson. When healthy (and no trades), I think the lineup will be:

Oladipo
Afflalo
Harris
BBD
Vuc

With major minutes for Jameer and Harkless off the bench.

Yea, I like that lineup a lot more, although if we had a chance to bench all of our "vets", I'd be all in for that lol.

So, I'm guessing that Dipo will be playing minutes at PG (when Jameer isn't on) and significant minutes at SG (when Jameer is running PG and Afflalo is on the bench)?

I really want to see what Harris can do at SF, his natural position, compared to PF.

I've been saying for a year that we eventually need to move Jameer to a sixth man role. let's him provide instant offense, energy off the bench, and limits the impact on his aging body while increasing the effectiveness of the entire second unit.

Is there any way we can pick up Jarvis Varnando and play him at PF with Vuc at center?

We get a defensive oriented big man who can hit the mid-range in Varnando and an offensive oriented big man in Vuc.

I'd really like for us to sign him.

I find it hilarious that people love Dipo and hate AA, and they have the exact same mindset. You don't have to like him, but absolutely silly to put him down for wanting the starting spot that he earned. If Dipo came out and said he wants to start, everyone would commend his competitive spirit. AA can't have the same competitive spirit?

As for teaching the youth, there are different ways to do that. You can take an active instruction role or you can show by example. Dipo will be challenged and grow just by having to play a vet like AA everyday in practice and that is healthy competition. Instruction can be given by coaches, but a friggin tweet does not mean he won't help the young guys. He did last year, and if he is not traded there is no reason to think he won't again.

People here just hate anybody eating up cap space past this season

My biggest reservation to that lineup is the fact that we would be hurting our chances in the Wiggins sweepstakes a bit. I still think one of Jameer/Afflalo/BBD to be traded before the deadline though.

He would be better than E'Twuan Moore of the bench.. but seriously doubt he is traded. I think the Bobcats will keep him. Besides I am not sure I would want to pay him $7mill either. Unless they take Harrington in trade for him.
