Steve Nash bounce back season?

Post#1 » by leeprettyp » Thu Jul 11, 2013 11:48 pm

After these off season roster moves so far (Hopefully we land Lamar) and also with a full training camp with Mike D as coach being able to implement his system. Barring major injuries, would I be wrong to have a strong feeling Steve Nash will have a bounce back season? (I admit even I was critical of him last year) At this point Kobe will be able to concede more of the ball handing responsibility to Nash and Farmer so we can run Mike D pick n roll scheme. Steve has always run some of the most offensive efficient basketball over the past decade. With players like Meeks, Kobe, Blake and Nick Young on the wings I can see Steve's assist #'s going back up this season. Kaman off the bench is also another big that could flourish in the pick n pop scheme. I just think the whole DH12 refusing to run the offensive scheme not only hurt the team last year but really forced Kobe to have to become the facilitator essentially turning Steve into a spot up shooter. Pau at least willing to run the system with Steve as the focal big now running the starting center position. We're gonna finally get to see this Nash and Pau pick n roll game run correctly. We're probably gonna need another wing defender also. (I really believe we need to run ALOT of zone next season lol)

Then again their are question marks still, how are Pau knees gonna respond to the treatments? We also have no idea what level Kobe will be at (what we do know is wherever he's at he busted his ass getting there). Even with that concern I wouldn't worry about Kobe to much, he'll find his ways to put the ball in the basket (its what he does) But I'm actually really excited for this upcoming season

It was never a question of skill and ability with Nash. Injuries are the only thing holding him back and, at age 39, he's more likely to get injured now than when he was in his early 30s.

I think if Nash is healthy and plays over 70 games, he'll have a 15 and 11 type season on 50-40-90%. The pace will be better this season and the spacing will be 10x better with Pau at the C. Both Pau and Kaman are better fits for Nash then Dwight could ever be.

The problem is also defense. Nash has never been a great defender and this time we don't have a rim protector like we did last season.

I think Nash and pau are going to be in all star form at the start of the season and when kobe gets back we will be even better.out bench is clearly a lot better than before, the bench finally can score now!

Nash "might" return to his usual form. But I doubt Pau will.

I don't think Nash will ever be the player he was a couple years ago, but the improved chemistry on the team is going to make him more comfortable and should make the offense flow a little better...
I doubt there's any significant improvement in D though.

Pau on the other hand... I think skipping Euro play will do wonders for him. I think he may be a little out of shape to start the season, but his legs will be better later.

We'll see...

I'm surprised everyone seems to think we will be useless next season and that the Rockets will be so much better than us since we finished with the same record last season and our entire team was broken, I think as long as we don't have injury problems like last season (which I'm not sure is possible) we will win more games tis season no question, Pau is going to have a bounce back season with all the room he will have in the post and Nash will have a good season if ha can stay healthy.

i am always optimistic with our team ... no matter what happens ... i will always root for the Lakers ... win or lose ... and i always believe at this point Pau will be one of the best C in the league ...

i believe that the Nash and Pau will click in the PnR ... it would be fun to watch 2 players with good BBIQ execute this kind of offense ...

Nash will have a much improved season. He's got Kaman and a healthy Jordan Hill to work with. If Ryan Kelly plays up to his potential(Bonner/Novak), things could get real interesting. I think the pressure also got to Nash a little last season. He's settled in with the team this year, and expectations are a little lower. He'll be solid. This is a gap year for Lakers fans. I wanna see some entertaining ball, and Nash will deliver.

I think he will definitely bounce back this season. The players we acquire so far fits into MDA system more. The problem is MDA likes a 8 men rotation and runs players into ground. I hope Steve will play slightly less than 30mpg and give more minutes to Farmar. I will be happy if Nash get a 13/8 stat line.

Give Nash some shooters, he will be that more dangerous in space.
